Officials in Indianapolis are turning up the heat on a bakery that refused to take an order from a student group seeking rainbow-colored cupcakes for next month's National Coming Out Day.
A spokesman for Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard said city officials are conducting an inquiry into the bakery, Just Cookies, which declined to take the order last week from a diversity group at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), which ordered the cupcakes for Oct. 11.
"The city's position is, it's the city's market, it's a public place," mayoral spokesman Robert Vane told FoxNews.com. "There is no litmus test for buying services of products at the City Market."
Just Cookies owner Lilly Stockon defended her bakery's decision last week, first telling Fox 59 that the shop doesn't make cupcakes, and then telling a reporter that she didn't have sufficient materials to make the the rainbow colors.
But her co-owner husband, David Stockton, said he had a different reason for refusing to take the order.
"I explained we're a family-run business, we have two young, impressionable daughters and we thought maybe it was best not to do that," he told Fox 59.

Or “KKK” cupcakes? Cupcakes with a figure being lynched?
What about the smiley face with the Hitler mustache?
Cupcakes with Mohammed’s face on them?
Every business needs to have a sign saying they reserve the right not to sell/provide service to anyone, for any reason. Because they do. Both parties haveto be willing participants if a contract is to be entered into lawfully and freely.

Wasn’t a Christian photographer found criminally guilty for refusing to shoot a gay wedding?
>> The Lavender Mafia will not be happy until the business is closed and burned to the ground, the parents jailed, and the daughters placed in foster care with lesbians...
Freaks.
Since I live in Indianapolis, I just blasted off an angry e-mail to ‘mayor’ Ballard.
Probably get the police at my door but I don’t care, I’m mad as h***.
Free nations do not dictate to any business what products they may provide, how they provide them, when they provide them, or to WHO they choose to provide them. TOTALITARIAN REGIMES DO! And that’s what I blasted to Ballard.
God help us rid this nation of totalitarian elitists! REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!
“Wasnt a Christian photographer found criminally guilty for refusing to shoot a gay wedding?”
Yes, they were targeted.
I just got back from this place. “Just Cookies” is located in the Indianapolis City Market. I lead a public Bible study group in the city market every Wed over lunch hour. (http://citymarketbiblestudy.blogspot.com/) A lot of the vendors in the market are Christian and support “Just Cookies” big time in this controversy. Actually, their business has gone up and people are coming in from all over the state to buy cookies and give them moral support.
That is good to know. Plan to go down there myself and buy some cookies!
>> Yes, they were targeted.
Naturally, the jackasses couldn’t go someplace else to fill the order.
I wonder how much of this is about empowering individuals who by ‘ordinary’ standards consider themselves to be losers and decide to adopt a way of life that is entwined with the kind of radical aggression that aims to destroy the ‘ordinary’ fabric.

What about those signs I've seen in businesses that went something like this:
"We have the right to refuse service to anyone"?
Under the 0thugga/commie/pervert tyranny, this slogan is fast becoming reality:
Whatever Is Not Prohibited Is Mandatory.
Time to stock up on torches and pitchforks!
Good, I glad to hear that. If I wasn’t several states away, I’d go buy some myself, even though I bake and never buy cookies. This nonsense is just going over the top.
Actually I don't believe they were targeted until after the fact. The gays were turned down because they asked for cupcakes and this vendor just sell cookies. Thus the name "Just Cookies". The gays have tried to turn it into a discrimination thing and make it something it never was. If they have to destroy an innocent small family business just trying to get by in the process, they are willing to do that. There groups are vicious.
How about National Shut the &^%$ Up and Keep It In Your Pants and Out of My Face Before I Cut It Off Day?
You know - that day may indeed be coming when we say “act like Americans, conform to our values, or STHU or GTHO”.
It’s what will come when we get a backbone and purge society of the deviant crap that’s being forced on us and our families.
Seems the business owners reserve the right to turn down any order(s) they see fit. If they didn’t have the supplies, then that should be the end of it.
Turning down business is stupid. It’s just not criminal. (At least it isn’t in Texas...yet.)
You know, the way to really shock a leftist into silence is to use the unadulterated truth.
“What’s so special and worthy of celebration about a group of people who define themselves by their desire to put their penises in others’ rectums?”
Special orders $100/dozen minimum order 100 dozen paid in advance.
Or offer to make them some individual fruitcakes instead.
>> There groups are vicious.
Indeed. Twisting the issue of civil rights to advance the cause of behavioral rights.
