I am having a hard time believing this story...If this supposed worm is in all of Iran’s networks, then it has surely spread around the rest of the world. We just don’t know it. If it has spread around the world, how come other world’s systems haven’t been affected?
All this opens a can of worms....Someone on their side will eventually figure this out and will back engineer it so they can use it against us and other nations....
I thought I had read the systems involved are not connected to the internet and the worm was planted with a a thumb drive.
Unlike a “real” virus, you can custom make computer viruses to attack specific networks. My guess is that these viruses were implanted into the software at manufacture, not with a flash card—the Iranians are not stupid. They would put the same security in place that everyone else has.
The reason why the malware or viruses that are more commonly known spread like wildfire is because they are designed that way—to collect information from as many sources as possible.
It was probably activated remotely.
This is simply an amazing story of how dependent we are on the internet and simple technology.
It is a worm with specific addresses on it. Something like it is in the future for all of us and surely our IT elite are furiously working on defenses even now.I expect my AVG to have a stuxnet update any time now, any time, come on you guys!
What was your first clue?
cough, cough...DEBKA...cough, cough...
