This is ominous. I’m sick of the War on Drugs being used as an excuse for government excesses.

But EPIC’s Rotenberg says that the scans, like those in the airport, potentially violate the fourth amendment.

If one were to assemble a list of the laws, governmental edicts and practices that obviously violate the Constitution, a document that resembled the "health Care" bill in size would result.

Conclusion? NO ONE in the government gives a hoot about the Constitution, except as it provides (minor) obstructions on the road to totalitarianism.

I say good for the cops. Now they won’t have to hang out in the shrubbery at the nudist colony with their binoculars, and it’ll free up a lot of time to spend at Dunkin’ Donuts.

***The same technology, capable of seeing through clothes and walls, has also been rolling out on U.S. streets. ***

This is former congressman Emanuel Cellar’s wet dream from the 1960s when he wanted dome type of machine so cops could drive around, scan people looking for guns.

For those not in the know, it was Thomas J Dodd and Emanuel Cellar who proposed the first federal handgun registration schemes back in 1961.

It will be just a matter of time till someone invents ( if not already) a body signal generator that will send out a false signal to the scanner. That bomb on the terrorist will look like some guy is just a little cubby. The scanner will be just for honest citizens , like gun control is.

“It’s no surprise that governments and vendors are very enthusiastic about the vans ... from a privacy perspective, it’s one of the most intrusive technologies conceivable.”

Potentially? This is already settled law. If it's not something a person could see with their bare eyes, it's a violation. Remedial things like glasses are fine, but thermal scanners, no. This is definitely in the thermal scanner category. Off to the hole with them; Bubba's horny.
