Remember that the Patriot Act was 98% identical to the proposal of Janet Reno. When a Democrat propsoes it most Democrats support it. When a Republican proposes it most Republicans support it.
Everyone tends to think that only the other side will abuse the power. Maybe the FBI sweep during Obma’s watch of self-described anti-war protestors will wake some on the left up to the reality that a powerful centralized government is intrinsically a danger to our freedoms and it is not a partisan issue.
(Whether I know all the details of the FBI sweep is irrelevant. What is relevant is the reaction of the activists.)

Didn't like it when Bush and the Republicans in Congress used 9/11 to make the federal government more powerful and more intrusive, and sure as hell don't like it when Nobama and the Democrats in Congress want to do the same.
What's really pathetic is that there are liberals and conservatives who are such cowards that they will immediately support an increase in the government's power and reach. All it takes is one little story about a potential terrorist attack and they immediately go running for the government to protect them.

The short answer is “yes”.

I closed my FB account. It was already getting too weird.Me too, last year. And I would never support that movie either, celebrating how they're tracking us (you know, without coming out and saying it, of course).

Everybody is going to need SSL websites.
I notice Wikipedia has done that.

I have been reading about that, but am not sure exactly what it means. I am kind of an internet dork. LOL!

Secure Socket Layer (SSL, HTTPS) is an encrypted internet protocol used for business transactions so that servers between you and the website, including your ISP, cannot read the data (like your CC number) being transferred. But it is increasingly being used for general privacy such as the search engine Startpage: https://www.startpage.com/

Thanks for the info. I need to study this further! We have
to protect ourselves when government ceases to. Who trusts
them anyhow!

Half your audience got turned off as soon as you went from war on terror to the war on some drugs, yet that unconstitutional abomination has been the single largest factor in the violation of the Constitution in the history of America. Too bad its cheerleaders here can’t get that through their thick heads!
