That’s the VXIwow-mahnnnX Amendment to the constitution, mahnnnnnn- the workers right to go to work to get loaded.

I figure about 23% of the workforce across the board does it.

Morons.

Nothing quite like being in command of a squad of stoned idiots- you get a lot done, and with sparkling conversation to boot.

This sort of thing has been going on forever. These guys were just more committed than most. I know working on an assembly line is mind numbing work, but if you can’t do it straight then you need to find another line of work.

BTW all they have to do is say that they are alcoholics and they are a protected class. The will have to go to some rehab, maybe an AA meeting or two, keep their noses clean for a year and the “letter to file” will be pulled. After that they are free to indulge again.

This was nothing but a “whisky, beer and dope smoking summit”... Obama would approve.

I don’t smoke anything. I leave that to the Chrysler folks.

Nope, they’ll still be at Chrysler. Different part of the plant maybe, but still at Chrysler. Still assembling the same cars.

Years ago, perhaps deacdes ago, Consumer Reports did an article on auto manufacturers. They found that vehicles built on a Monday or Friday were the most often the vehicles with rattles in the dash (small tools left int he dash when attached), rattles caused by bolts with no nuts, and even parts left off the final product. Three deacdes ago, my then brother in law would pull the dash on any GM truck he bought to make sure it was not manufactured on a MOnday or Friday. I think the computer system with bar codes makes that unnecessary now, since the date it rolls off the assembly line is encoded and can be found on the door panel.

I feel the same way. I like Ford products and admire management for not taking a bailout, but as long as their cars are built by the UAW I’ll pass. It pains me to say it, but I’m more likely to buy a Mexican-built Fiesta than a UAW built vehicle, such is my disgust and repulsion for unions.

There have always been a number of people drinking or smoking marijuana on the job, I’ve seen it since my first job as a teenager at a long closed greasy spoon in downtown Pittsburgh.

These guys were caught and should be fired, but it won’t get rid of the problem. It will send a warning to others in the industry that might also be guilty, but just not caught yet, to be more discrete. At least for a while.

“Note the Harley T-shirts on the drunks. I was getting lunch today and the cops were arresting a guy with Harley stickers on his SUV who was visably drunk.”

Note: I wear Harley T-shirts, as does my wife and I have a
Harley sticker on my 2010—$50,000 puck up and one on my 2007—$80,000 Airstream trailer..... and I don’t drink or do drugs. Oh, I also ride a Harley.

You might not want to judge folks by what they wear. Having retired at 53, I am no longer required to play dress up, so I dress simple and comfortable.

These union bugs are clearly lowlifes, but it has nothing to do with their T-shirts..

Now FRiend, I do agree with the rest of your post. ;>)

Local paper defending them...

Remember, the “tipsters” called the TV station. Did they put equal energy into asking supervisors to do something first? If not, why? If so, and nothing happened, then is Chrysler taking action only because the story made national news? And what happens if another worker does the same — but isn’t caught on camera?

CAW boss Ken Lewenza slams video of Chrysler boozers

WINDSOR, Ont. — A Detroit television report exposing alcohol and drug use among 15 Chrysler Group workers during their lunch break from the Jefferson North Assembly plant was a politically motivated attempt to slam autoworkers and the Obama administration’s bailout of Chrysler and General Motors, CAW president Ken Lewenza said Friday.

“It frustrates me because it puts our members in a bad light when, in fact, it’s not unusual for people to have a couple of beers at lunch,” said Lewenza. “I would imagine we could catch executives, journalists going for lunch, having a couple of beers before going back to work.

“Why pick on autoworkers?”

They will be reinstated. The UAW released a statement about the issue that did not condemn their actions nor promise that if found to be guilty of the videotaped actions they would be fired. Instead it was a bunch of empty platitudes and promises to ‘look into it’.

They won’t be fired.

****************

No they won’t. The defense will be that there is no proof that they were drinking alcohol and smoking pot.

Count on it.

Re: Weed smokin’ drunken auto workers. Why don’t they just say they’re sorry and admit to be being former crack-heads, write a book about it, better yet, two books, announcing this series of events as their biggest moral failure, then announce a run for the presidency?
