Good point, it’s the only thing they have to dehumanize the person but women are one of their voting blocs they need to hold onto. They lose the women and it is over for them.
It is the same lynching Clarance Thomas had and just repeated over and over.

Might be a scheduling coincidence, but I’m wondering if MTP did the education segment today because Kimberly did a segment on ‘Waiting for Superman’ on Geraldo’s show last night and Geraldo did a segment on Mark Zuckerberg’s $100M donation to Newark, NJ schools (showed clips of him & Gov Christie and also interviewed the Mayor).
So I warn husband....let’s not talk politics during your mother’s visit. He and I talk about such without pause, as you can understand, during the week as, well it’s just us, the cats and the dogs. The dog is Belgian and a bit on the liberal side but the cats are all solid conservative.
For the whole time as I drive home from Baltimore airport during Limbaugh air time, I do not turn on the radio. Not once during her visit in our home do I turn on Fox news. I did mention the O’Donnell race, just once, quickly showing her pic of Christine and granddaughter. O’Donnell is a Delaware race and I figured safe if I did it quickly, although COD WAS endorsed by Palin and mother-in-law, in that most reasonable and thought-fill manner of all liberals....HATES Sarah Palin.
Yeah, I asked her once, this back in 2008 during the election times...asked what on earth about Sarah Palin disturbed her so.
“She carries that baby around on her hips,” MIL said with a very obvious sneer.
Well hell, I don’t know what it means, it’s what she said. You figger it out.
MIL also adored Obama back then, thought he was a soft-spoken black man and said health care would NEVER pass and thought it time a half-white black man who spoke with no ghetto tones finally get a chance, she hated George W in that thoughtful and reasonable manner of liberals....and on and on and on.
It was HUSBAND, heh, who mentioned Barack Obama to his mother during the visit. I was shocked. I shouted at him that he wasn’t suppose to talk politics...then I asked what he’d say about Obama.
“I made some nasty comment,” he shrugged....I wasn’t there but folks, serious, I made a vow to my God and had to get down on my knees and ask His help to keep my promise, NOT to cluck, cluck, smirk, smirk over how awful Obama turned out to be as well as, ahem, that health care bill DID pass....no, yon ladies and gems...I WAS THE GOOD GUY.
“What did she say?” I ask husband.
“Oh, she said something about always finding the good in people,” husband summarized.
Heh.
Further, during a short discussion on Sunday, when I also did NOT watch the Sunday talk shows such was the guidance of my Lord for my vow....Mother-in-law herself launches into a lament about how she never wants to vote again, how she only voted in the recent primary because the big retirement village she lives in got a special voting place just for them and she felt guilty, she does not like DeVal Patrick, she likes Scott Brown....but it’s stressful for her and she’d like to never vote for anyone ever again because....
....well folks...my Lord kept me quiet and my guffaws quelled.
It’s just an anecdote and might mean nothing. I suspect that MIL is an example of many former Obama voters and further, seriously here, the woman really WAS a bit of a wreck over how she voted and her fear of voting in the future.
A bit sad, really.
It seems Republicans have a stronger back bench today than we have had in some time. Now, if we can get rid of old leadership and elevate these young guns, we’ll have a stronger face for the Republican Party.

I really wish Paul Ryan would go on these shows more often. He is able to get so technical about fiscal policy that people like Wallace are unable to follow up with stupid talking points.
$100,000,000 to Newark schools will go the way of the trillion dollar stimulus dollars.
GONE WITHOUT A TRACE
Every time I see Clarence Thomas’ name I am reminded that Anita Hill’s attorney was the one and only Janet Napolitano.
Good to see that you had my identical take on both Gregory and Pence. Shameful behavior by Gregory this morning.
We expect a depressed Democrat vote here as well. Our local Tea Party and 9-12 people say they have 6-8% Democrat membership. I actually think it’s a bit higher but it remains to be proven either way.
If Democrats can vote for Christie in NJ, anything is possible, IMHO. Certainly, our optimism this year is based on reality more than it was two years ago.
That money would do more good if it were paid directly to the parents/guardian of each student for good grades; $100 for each A, $75 for every B, and even $50 per C for example.
I can tell you that at this past SCRWC luncheon with my pics upthread, the local GOP folks were very much in attendance as well as all the local candidates.
We were all told in no uncertain terms that the Delaware GOP supports ALL candidates elected in the primary and indeed, a check was given to COD.
I suspect the Delaware GOP will be turned around soon enough. Many of them, in fact, are quite relieved that Castle’s finally gone.
Soon, as I understand, The Delaware GOP headquarters will be moved to Dover and Wilmington is way north of most of the voting populace and in no way indicative of most Republican voters in Delaware.
Like Miss Marple said, interview shows aren’t his strong suit, but I don’t share your opinion that he did all that poorly.
Gregory was extremely hostile and rude this morning and Pence managed to get the facts across the viewing audience, whereas Van Hollen came across hostile and mean.
Then to top it off, Van Hollen said the democrats would hold the House, which then made all of his previous statements worthless.
Gosh, I don’t know. Hot topic, that film “Waiting for Superman.”
Absolutely they can choose someone else. And Boehner’s job is not a lock, because there will be a whole bunch of new GOP reps who will be very conservative.
I do want to point out, though, that Boehner has done an excellent job keeping the GOP together on votes. That is no small accomplishment. As important as talking on television has become, even more important is the ability to keep people together, to manage the votes, and to prevent weak-kneed people from being co-opted by the other side.
It does no good to have an incompetent speaker who talks well. TV appearances are only a minor part of the job.
And some conservatives have people holding grudges, remember. There will be a big (probably nationally televised) vote on speaker this year. Do not be surprised if someone unexpected is the winner.
I still like Boehner, though. He’s got a sort of retro executive look, like he could have been the lawyer for the Rat Pack. LOL!
I doubt the media/press will report the trash left behind as these liberals meet to further trash America and our capital.
Years ago, at Dan’s Bake Sale in Ft. Collins, CO, their city employees were stunned at how well conservatives cleaned up after themselves.
I think Mike Pence did fine. He’s just pretty laid back, more statesmanlike in his demeanor than some representatives. I agree with Miss Marple that he probalby wouldn’t be a great candidate for president (at least not yet).
It’s hard for me to watch Chris Van Hollen speak. He tries real -ly hard to en-un-ci-ate ev-er-y word to the point of it be-ing dis-trac-ting.

Great comment here from our state GOP senate minority leader yesterday. Legislation is not about “compassion” or who is more compassionate to one group of voters. Legislation is about helping all citizens equally and fairly. The compassionate argument is misdirection and not their job.
