Poll: Flores 55% to Edwards 36%
Shows Flores Message Resonating, Edwards Negative Attacks Have Failed
Texas Insider Report: BRYAN, Texas A new general election poll of 400 likely voters taken by On Message, Inc. shows Republican nominee Bill Flores leading 20-year incumbent Democrat Congressman Chet Edwards (D-TX) by a margin of 55% to 36% with less than 6 weeks to go before Election Day.
We are very encouraged by the results of this poll and we will work harder than ever to bring home a victory over the next 40 days, said Flores.
This poll is yet another reflection of the voters rejecting the voting record of Chet Edwards and embracing our message of private sector job creation, economic growth and cutting federal spending, Flores said.
The poll shows Flores winning independent voters by a margin of 66% to 23%, presenting an overwhelming to challenge to Edwards campaign.
In the same poll, the generic Congressional ballot shows the respondents favoring Republicans over Democrats 53-28, with 20 percent undecided.
The poll also showed a significant difference in the favorability of the two candidates. Flores had a 45 favorable rating and a 19 negative rating.
Edwards has a 47 unfavorable rating and a 45 favorable rating.
The polls margin of error is +/- 4.9 percent.
;o)
You’re welcome.
You forgot something...VABHO :-)
Like people in Texas won’t know he’s a RAT.
Texans are too smart for that trick.
I remember when he ran against Phil Gramm in 1984; it was a beautiful sight watching effeminate little Lloyd get wiped out.
Pour a little salt on this info. This is a Republican polling outfit that has conducted this poll for Bill Flores. It maybe 100% correct but I’d doubt that Edwards is that far behind. Even if it is 50% wrong it’s still very good for Flores.
I would be stunned to see Edwards defeated!
I appreciate your “sober up” info..I have seen two polls ..one in August , I believe, showing Flores ahead..but not by nearly this margin.
This will be a big upset and undoubtedly the only TX seat to switch sides. People in TX nearly always prefer their friendly House incumbents.
BTTT!
The Doggett district is geared ony for him and no one else. People there truly believe that Lloyd is “on our side.”
There was an earlier poll by this Republican group that had Flores up by 12 or so. However I’ve not seen and polls by other firms which surprises me. I’d think it would be a race that would be polled.
This is NOT a big upset, this is the chickens coming home to roost and one I predicted at the beginning of the year, Chet was and is a goner - this Pelosi Poodle has played his scam on the conservative voters in his district long enough.
And no, this is NOT the only TX seat to switch sides - TX-23 will switch as well, Quico taking out Ciro. better than 50/50 shot at that right now.
THE REAL UPSET WOULD BE DONNA CAMPBELL TAKING OUT LLOYD DOGGETT. It’s doable if the election wave is a force 9 Tsunami. She is a great candidate. Doggett really needs to get fired.
Twice I've been polled by the Edwards campaign.
Both times, I've responded with, "Gee, I don't know. Perhaps you can help me make a decision. If re-elected, who would Congressman Edwards vote for to be Speaker of the House?"
Crickets.
Ol' Chet is going down.
I so hope this is true. When I was in Cleburne last weekend all I saw were big Chet Edwards signs. Go Flores!
Rovian? Not exactly. Karl has made it perfectly clear that he's not too fond Christine O'Donnell, and perhaps a few other GOP candidates who may be part of the "storm."
Oh, if this would turn out to be true.
The Pubs in TX have been trying to get rid of Chet for a LONG time. When they redrew the district, they took out Fort Hood and added Bryan/College Station/A&M on the south end and suburban Fort Worth on the north end, giving him a strongly Republican district. Chet has survived in spite of that. They love him in Waco, and he’s an Aggie, IIRC, so he plays “conservative” in College Station.
Hopefully, this is the year. The jig is up.
I wish I could believe Doggett might lose. He should lose. His district includes lots of area that should be conservative. He has the socialist professors at Texas State, possibly a comfortable majority of many Hispanic voters (however, many hard-working, devoutly religious Hispanics are natural conservatives), and a number of college students in Austin and San Marcos, but I doubt that a majority of the voters in his district are socialists. Still, he has lots of union money and lots of name ID.
Good news! Chet is really desperate and trying to scare the Vets for votes. Hopefully it won’t work this year!
I have made a point of telling everybody I know that he's a democrat, that he is a joke cause he "saves" the VA every 2 years and laugh at that, and finally make sure that I remind everybody that he voted to stop funding the troops in Iraq for his first vote just like Nancy told him to.
Every nurse, paramedic, fellow tennis players, shop keepers, lawn men, mechanics every time we bring up how "tight" money is and how tough business is, I blame on "Old Obama and Chet".. hahahahaha.
He wanted to be Obama's VP, well I'm gonna tie them together.
Lots of folks are passing the word, make sure you do the same. Especially in public. I always make it seem like "I'm kinda shocked, I DIDN'T know that old Chet was such an Obama supporter".. then maybe they'll spread the word.
The key is voter fraud and everybody that can should try to get to be a poll worker and find out how to help count the vote.
