President Barack Obama will try to recapture the magic of his 2008 youth vote next week, pulling out some of the organizational tricks of his presidential campaign at a massive rally at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
His political arm, Organizing for America, will be collecting email addresses and pressing students to sign pledge cards swearing they will vote in November.
Those cards will be sent back to them closer to Election Day. Volunteers will also push students to sign up for text-messaging alerts
Tricks like that were staples of the Obama presidential campaign, which built up a vast database of supporters' vitals, such as e-mail addresses and contact information. First-time voters in 2008 are now the most prized target of Democratic organizers, but they have been hard to energize.

Maybe an appearance on MTV will do the trick.
They'll probably have to do what the Italian soccer team with no fans had to do, put large canvas sheets with pictures of people over the empty seats.
Kids are fickle Barry. You were cool in their naive eyes two years ago. They've moved on to other shiny objects. Deal with your has been hipster status.
He could do a faggy little dance with Beyonce maybe
Mmm, Mmm, Mmm!
What is with obama and Wisconsin? he sure is spending a lot of time there...
College age voters should understand that they have to pay for this, perhaps more than anyone else. Being collage age, however, has it’s own beauty in ignorance I guess. Death and taxes though...
Consider how gullible the youth of America are (I was one once and gullible was my middle name) he may be on to something.
Protest supression, Puppet Spammer mission for the Beltway >>>>>> to one of their main bases. (And what a coincidence....one of their main bases that get to be on their parents health insurance, until age 26...) Protest supression
Well don’t worry about the recent graduates, they are living with their parents again (no work) and will vote with and like mom and dad. Sayonara Commie.
“What is with obama and Wisconsin? he sure is spending a lot of time there...”
TWO WORDS...
Paul Ryan...LOL!!
The dems are terrified of him running for prez or staying around in Congress period. I would pay big bucks to watch Ryan debate Obama and dance on the head of the pin that is Obama’s brain.
He thinks of himself as the big cheese....next stop Iowa because he is corny.......sorry i just had to bring some levity even if droll.
Well for one thing, they must all be enthralled with the prospective job situation. I’m sure their parents and friends back home are texting them just how hunky-dory everything is.
I have to think these next 2 elections are the knife’s edge of our future.
You know what they say: “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me” — let’s hope people — young and old won’t let Obama fool them twice.
I dunno..there are an awful lot of Rush babies on the prowl...and all grown up now. I know..I raised one....(grin)
Polls show large numbers of young people are sticking with him. God help us all. I have to wonder how “massive” of a rally this will be though when he hasn’t even filled up any of the other recent venues they’ve sent him to.
News flash to Barry....the magic is gone. Your dissappointed deadbeat fans would rather sit in their dorms eating Cheetos and listen to Lady Gaga than get out the vote. You didn’t pay off their student loans, buy them cars or give them guaranteed jobs so what do you expect?
Barry, don’t count on the dead voting for you either because you have probably somehow managed to piss them off too.
Considering that most youth voters are subjected to a continual onslaught of leftist crap from all sides, what can they do? They get it from their textbooks, their teachers and professors.
