An endorsement from a symbol of bygone centrist Republicanism, Bob Dole:
Christine ODonnells message resonated with the voters, and to the surprise of many she defeated Congressman Mike Castle, who many of us thought would win. The primary is over and in my opinion it is time for voters to join hands and support Christine ODonnell. The Delaware seat is important and the winner in November could well determine whether Republicans or Democrats control the Senate.
I find many of the attacks on ODonnell to be personal and lacking in balance and fairness. If her campaign wishes I am willing to assist in a limited way since I am still a patient at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I will have surgery Monday, September 27.

Bob Dole was not a good presidential candidate and I disagreed with him a lot, but he is a patriot and a great American. He loves the Republican Party and doesn’t want to see it torn apart...something that could very well happen in the upcoming year or two. Kudos to him for his common sense and best wishes to him with his health issues.
I have been privileged to know Senator Dole personally for the last 4 years. While politically, he is not as conservative as I would like, I echo earlier posts to state that he has CLASS (with a capital C). As was true many times in the past, he has stepped up to serve his country.
I'd like to think of him as one of us these days.
“Bob Dole just wants some attention..he was a RINO..”
Really? Why do you think he wants some attention? Looking for a spot on Jersey Shore?
I remember katie colic (couric) hated him so much she could not say his name ithout making a face or practicaly spitting in disgust. Her pathetic bias made me even love him more during his presidential campaign.
I agree. Having said that, a good candidate would not be needing this.
No, he’s not. But Dole was the first person I ever cast a vote for in a Presidential election when I turned 18. He’s always been a good guy and honorable. That is why I cast a vote for him over Clinton. At the time I was not a conservative politically but Clinton’s character made me sick.
I’m still proud of that vote. The exact opposite of how I feel about the vote for McCain in ‘08, though it was more a vote for Palin. I was content to abstain that year otherwise.
Sorry to hear he’s in the hospital. I didn’t know.
IF still in contact with the Senator wish us well in his knee surgery from all of Freeperdom. Dittos, this is Class personified. He never made it about "me" like some others on the national stage in the last 2 years, he always has put country 1st and doing the right thing, even when 1 vote cost him the balanced budget admendment, he didn't want to do it with a resignation/absention from a fellow Senator...
A RomneyBot opining on good candidates. That’s rich.
Dole was more liberal then I am in my policies but he was a good man then, and he is a good man now.
I agree - Dole has always been a classy guy. I wish he would have been a better candidate in 1996, and I didn’t always agree with him on the issues. But he has decency and character aplenty.
Knock it off. I can have an opinion about ANY candidate.
GOOD on Bob Dole!
He contributed the max, too!
Very nice message too.
Bob Dole “gets it.”
I will pray for his successful surgery.
It is the Viagra talking.
Forever the Honorable Patriot. Even from his hospital bed he is willing to fight for fairness. He is one of a kind and I feel so honored to stand in agreement with Bob Dole.
Beautifully stated. Hear! Hear!
He's still a great patriot, and that's what I was getting at.
This is an important endorsement from a man who was an elected representative in the days when there were statesmen. God bless him.
“If her campaign wishes I am willing to assist in a limited way...”
Excellent, Mr. Dole. We welcome all patriots.
