CA: Boxer has Six-Point Lead Over Fiorina in Senate Race.
Field Poll (PDF FILE) ^ | September 24, 2010 | Mark DiCamillo and Mervin Field

BOXER HAS SIX-POINT LEAD OVER FIORINA IN SENATE RACE.
MOST VOTERS BASING THEIR CHOICES ON PRO OR CON FEELINGS ABOUT BOXER.
MANY VOTERS STILL HAVEN’T FORMED AN OPINION OF FIORINA.

In the U.S. Senate race Democrat Barbara Boxer is holding on to a six percentage point lead – 47% to 41% – over her GOP rival Carly Fiorina.

This is a slightly bigger lead than the incumbent had over Fiorina in Field Poll surveys taken in July and March of this year.

Table 1
Trend of voter preferences in the 2010 general election for U.S. Senate
(among likely voters)
                    Boxer(D) Fiorina(R) Undecided/other
September 2010 47% 41 12
July 2010 47% 44 9
March 2010 45% 44 11
January 2010 50% 35 15
October 2009 49% 35 16
March 2009 55% 25 20
Preference motivation

At this point in the campaign majorities of supporters of Boxer and those backing Fiorina appear to concur on one thing about this year’s U.S. Senate contest – the race is primarily about the incumbent.

Two-thirds (65%) of voters who support Fiorina say that their preference is more a vote against Boxer than it is an affirmation of Fiorina’s own candidacy (31%). Among Boxer supporters 67% say their vote is more a vote for Boxer than it is a vote against her opponent (29%).

Table 2
Is your vote preference more a vote for your candidate or against her opponent?
(among likely voters of each candidate)
For my Against her No opinion
                   candidate opponent
Boxer voters 67% 29 4
Fiorina voters 31% 65 4

She’s sonservative for CALIFORNIA!!

No, she's not. Exactly what state are you from?

What the HELL do you EXPECT...IT”S CALIFORNIA!!!!

A GOP candidate that supports the GOP platform would be a good start.

Too bad there is no conservative in the race.

You vote for the best you can get...remember this CA. You will not get a "strict Consevative" this election. Next election there might be hope. Getting rid of Boxer would be a huge step.

DA Office Braces for Bloodbath — Mass Firings Feared
THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE - Wednesday, January 17, 1996
Author: Phillip Matier, Andrew Ross

EXCERPT

LOYALTY TEST: A few weeks ago, when Mayor-elect Willie Brown was mulling over his first appointment to the Board of Supervisors, Carole Migden offered up this advice: ``You have a free pass on this one, so appoint someone that will shine and someone who will be loyal.’’

He did, appointing Representative Nancy Pelosi ‘s aide, Michael Yaki , to replace Terence Hallinan.

Yaki represents the latest generation of the Burton-Brown machine, that liberal-labor combine of politicos that includes Brown, Pelosi , Assemblyman John Burton, plus Supervisors Kevin Shelley and Sue Bierman.

Even U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer started out as an aide in the Burton combine.

If there’s one thing the Burton clan knows about, it’s loyalty. By appointing Yaki , Brown proves his loyalty to Pelosi and gives Yaki a chance to prove his loyalty to Brown.

The idiots were warned. She had a history that people wouldn’t forget.
But, no..... our arrogant, corrupt, GOP establishment pushed her, anyway.

Take an arrogant, hated, liberal (Boxer) and choose an arrogant, hated, moderate to liberal (Carly)
to run against her. Brilliance! /s

Agreed, this is not a primary battle.

Fiorina far from perfect but she is 100 times better than Boxer.

Some things never change. Many of the established are still playing out of the old playbook.

That is precisely why they will lose.

Soooo, I ask again...WHO are you going to vote FOR??? NSWER PLEASE!!

No need to scream, dearie. How about you answer my question: "What State are you in"? I find it amusing how every election a bunch of out-of-state posters come on California threads posting the mantra: "California is too liberal. You could never elect a conservative. This is the best we can hope for... and other innanities, ad nauseum."

I'll probably vote for Carly but it's not a matter of who *I* will vote for that matters.

It is the other millions of people in the state who simply won't take the time to come out and vote for the SOS. Californians aren't all that liberal -- they're just busy. They tune out politics because they see nothing inspiring to support. Turnout wins elections. Turnout depends on motivating people to vote FOR something. There is no such motivation this year, other than perhaps the dopeheads who want to legalize marijuana.

As of now, at least from what I'm seeing in the East Bay, Fiorina is running a similar campaign to Bill Jone's 2004 stealth campaign.

I'm not seeing ANY Fiorina ads on TV. Family members are telling me the same thing.

We are all waiting for Fiorina to begin her campaign. What is she waiting for? A few appearances on national cable TV shows will not be enough.

Carly IS a conservative...she’s PRO-LIFE!!

Suuuurrrrreeee, and so is McQueeg. /sarc

Hell, I'm sure we can find some position that Obama shares with conservatives, although I don't think you'll be as willing to bend over and kiss his arse as you are for FioRINO.

I’m sorry - I don’t understand the point? Are you trying to tell me that a bunch of leftists are all part of a leftist machine? Those of us in California are pretty aware of that. Shoot, even Hallinan (mentioned in your post) hails from a family of rabid Communists. (capital C)

I just moved away from CA, but I decided to vote one last time absentee in CA rather than where I am now, because I moved to a red state and I consider a Boxer defeat a very high priority.
