Rep. Weiner's Anti-Goldline/Beckophobia Crusade Falls Flat
Newsbusters ^ | September 24, 2010 | Jeff Poor

An organization once headed by former Obama administration official Van Jones gave it his best shot. Other so-called grassroots organizations have given it best shot. Now Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., with the power of Congress in tow, has given it his best shot to shut Glenn Beck down. But so far it isn’t really working.

On Sept. 23, Weiner called a representative from Santa Monica, Calif.-based Goldline to testify before the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee about what he deemed to be unfair business practice they engage in. However, it just so happens that Goldline sponsors Beck and other conservative media personalities.

But you would think that with congressional hearings, the media would be all over this, right? Not exactly, at least thus far. The most attention Weiner’s charade could muster was a segment at the end of MSNBC’s resident bomb-thrower show, “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.” Olbermann asked Weiner on his Sept. 23 broadcast if Goldline was in cahoots with “willing partners like Glenn Beck,” since anyone who suggests gold be a part of someone’s portfolio is up to no good.

The little Weiner is a loser who has wasted time and taxpayer money on a ridiculous attempt to shut up Glenn Beck. He has failed, miserably and doesn’t even get MSM attention because he’s a bore and his premise for the attack is transparently false. Beck and conservative radio talk shows aren’t ‘talking down the economy’, they’re simply stating inconvenient facts that leftists such as little Mr. Weiner don’t want publicized. That these shows also carry some advertising for companies selling gold is hardly some kind of diabolical plot to fleece naive Americans. The facts prove this and Weiner knows it. So does the MSM, who have steered clear of this charade. Glenn Beck just mocks Weiner by eating a hot dog (weiner) on-camera while talking about the little congressman’s jihad against him (Beck). This just shows, if any further proof were necessary, how desperate and nasty (Weiner is a whiny little nerd) the left is. Once again, they lose - and this makes my day.

I don’t know where they expected this to go...

I didn’t get to see it, but I was fully hoping this blew up in Waxman’s & Weiner’s faces as they were gonna be throughly schooled in free market economics for our entertainment on C-SPAN by real professionals.

I was hoping to dub over sound effects.

Maybe Weiner should got Steve Colbert to testify before his committee.

I’m sure Colbert would have treated Weiner with all the respect and seriousness that Weiner deserves.

If Gert Fröbe was still alive, the Congress could ask him to testify to the subcommittee. "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to invest in precious metals... and to die."
