Huge difference between the two cultures. mexico never has been a functioning country. The perfect storm for Colombia was help from the US, Uribe and the people themselves. You will never see that happen in mexico.

>>mexico never has been a functioning country.<<

I have held that opinion for fifty years and been yelled at numerous times for saying it in public. This nonsense of attempting to arrest drug terrorists instead of just killing them is ridiculous. It shows me that the government officials are involved in the drug racket. Use the military and kill anyone who is causing nationwide problems.

Mexico actually was a functioning country for a long time, and despite the fact that it was technically a socialist country, managed to keep its head above water and supported the US heavily, particularly during WWII.

However, 60 years of what would be in US terms Democratic Party politics and policies brought it to stagnation. When the conservative party won, they had a flake candidate, Fox, but that merely shows you how desperate Mexicans were for a change. Calderon is also from the conservative party, and Obama has absolutely no intention of supporting him.

Troops from VZ were found in Mexico about three years ago, and Mexico is under heavy attack from the left. A large number, if not the majority, of those entering the US illegally from Mexico are not Mexicans, but have been brought up from South America or from landing places in South America (accounting for the many Chinese and Arabs who are among them).

Mexico is actually building a fence on its Guatemalan border to keep these people out, although the Yucatan Peninsula and other lower coastal areas of Mexico are so wild that it is easy for people to infiltrate by boat.

It’s time to take a realistic look at Mexico. It is pivotal to the leftist attack on the US. The current Mexican government is trying to fight back, but we’re not offering anywhere near the support we did to Colombia because we have a leftist in office and for many, many years even before him, leftists have dominated our Mexican policy.
