I don’t question that there are some remote areas without a hospital close by, but I have a hard time believing that there is a Planned Parenthood that’s closer.

Agreed.

Your logic apparently says that if something is posted on Free Republic, it must have been seen by everyone on here. Give me a break.

I am glad that I was made aware of the connection b/t Komen and PP.

P.S. Your halo needs some polishing; noticed a little dull spot there.

I did a very small research project on Eugenics. Learned a lot about Sanger and how that whole ideology played right into the NAZIs and their evil. It just never ends.

My comment about logic was not directed at you, nor were my other comments in that post.

Metmom, philosophically and spiritually I think we are aligned (I am an evangelical Christian who is pro-life, pro-marriage, and base my values on Christ’s teaching... I believe you do the same). The only point you made in your post that I really think you should give some more thought to is about the hospitals being used for their reproductive services.

The LAST thing I want is a bunch of people to start using the hospitals for their routine services. I think there should be more options besides Planned Parenthood but I don’t know what all those options or answers might be, other than clinics to be developed that might serve women’s reproductive needs without doing abortions. Of course, even that starts getting dicey because technically, Roman Catholic teaching says no artificial birth control and even many evangelicals believe it is wrong.

I just think we need to stay vocal about what Planned Parenthood does and pray, pray, pray.

If you know about their link to Planned Parenthood and - judging by the thread - apparently I am the only person who didn’t seem to know this link, then how is it hidden?

I am not sure I get you. Meanwhile, I assume you have (or still do) support crisis pregnancy centers with your resources of time and money. I have worked at them before and raised money, donated money, and given baby showers for the girls who decide to keep their babies. My church does a lot of stuff as a corporate effort as well.

I’m not going to blast Komen because they aren’t perfect.

I know of hospitals which have breast screening clinics incorporated with them. There’s one in CNY here and it’s very close to a poor section of town. The local bus lines all make it one of their stops.

It’s not a matter of using hospitals for *reproductive services*, it’s having mammography equipment available in a separate section where women can go for mammograms.

It only makes sense as hospitals often have other radiology services attached to them. Even small ones are Capable of doing MRI’s and CAT scans and I believe that mammograms are not as costly as those.

One of my favorite aphorisms:

Knowledge is Power

It is really so true. Truth to Power is also a good one but you need the knowledge to know the truth.

Yes, this is true, I know. There are also tons of centers (including the one where I go) that is a stand-alone facility affiliated with the hospitals, including the renowned Cleveland Clinic.

However, just because you know of them, that does not mean they all are near poor sections of town. The ones I go to are definitely not. Planned Parenthood deliberately places itself in metropolitan areas and in inner ring burbs.

You do have me interested so I’m going to do some checking to see where OURS are to see if my theory on where they pop us is correct (not to mention near colleges).

I am not talking about any link to planned parenthood..

Didn’t you read my post to you???

I said the problem with Komen is that they don’t teach, inform or promote the Abortion and Breast Cancer link to abortion and by keeping that information secret, they are promoting breast cancer among women.

Abortion is the single most avoidable cause for Breast Cancer and Komen keeps that a secret.

If one supports Komen, they are support abortion, Komen is a pro-abortion organization.

Coleus, if you follow the logic in your post, then you would not be able very many investments, or money in the bank, etc. I have heard this kind of discussion before. If I donate money to Komen, I can say to myself, “well MY money goes to the breast research and the guy who is pro-abortion who donates, well HIS money is going to the abortion part of their dealings”) and the truth of it is that God ultimately owns everything and is sovereign.

I know people who have knocked other people for investing in a particular company’s stock if that company has some business streams that might not be Christ-centered or even totally against Christ, but then you have to think about your money in the bank and where that bank might be investing, or the mutual funds you are in that might have some questionable practices. If you buy ANY product you better check out the company that makes it and make sure they aren’t doing anything questionable or that their CEO isn’t some really evil guy. Moreover, any company that has set up shop in China is guilty of working with people who are in serious violation of humanity - not to mention persecution of Christians. So, do you buy anything ever made in China? Do you see how this line of thought can get so convoluted? I do.

I think that Komen needs to be up front about two issues: 1) that there is a strong link b/t abortion and breast cancer. The other posters on here have mentioned the hypocrisy of them not doing so and I agree. If they care about reducing the numbers of breast cancer victims, they really should be educating the public about all the information that is available.

2) They should be up front and honest about their financing of Planned Parenthood.

Other than that, I think they operate like millions of businesses - large and small - in this country.

REPEAT: Do not support the Race for the Cure!!!!!!

They give money to Planned Parenthood which performs abortions and causes more breast cancer.

Can’t have it both ways!

If you donate to komen, you are donating to satan! You are either a stealth democrat here on the FR; not pro life or thinking with your hormones instead of your brain. You called wagglebee “mean spirited” a term used mostly by liberal democrats... I think you must be one of them.. Give all your money to komen if you wish, you were presented with the truth and just can’t understand it. No pro-life person I know gives money or respects komen...You still don’t admit that komen lies to young women about the abortion and breast cancer link...If you ask Jesus for forgiveness, I’m sure He will forgive you.

Coleus, if you think that a person on here must be a liberal just for using pretty simple words in the English dictionary, then I just can’t help you at all.

You have lied in your post. You said that I still “don’t admit” that Komen is lying about the relationship b/t abortion and cancer. I sent out numerous posts on this thread that indicated that I HATE Planned Parenthood and that I had previously been unaware of their link to Komen. I also THANKED a couple of Freepers on here who enlightened me about the connection.

I also wrote in one of my posts that I had even sent out an email to several Catholic friends about the link. I have now received a few responses back from said friends - some said they already knew and a few were shocked.

So, after it’s all been said and done, what I have learned is that there are people willing to engage in sincere, clear dialog and I am all too happy to participate.

I do not, however, appreciate your slurs and insults that I am a liberal (I do consider that an insult).

I have been a follower of Christ since age 17 and I am now 52 years old. The anger I hear in YOUR voice actually reminds me of the liberals that I know who are just hateful and mean - they are usually the ones to use words like “whore” in their speech. Also, I am reminded more than ever of those I know who are still lost and have not accepted Christ who often say that Jesus they “like,” but it’s His followers they have problems with. Well, amen to that.

It’s best to speak the truth in love, so I am taught. I would rather share the truth than be a clanging gong. People will get it and the ones who don’t, well, they are not pro-life anyway.

Keep chipping. Satan likes it when we chip at each other.
