Charlie Crist: Amnesty to Save Social Security
Shark Tank ^ | 9/22/10 | Javier Manjarres

Posted on 09/22/2010 2:13:16 PM PDT by pissant

n today’s campaign appearance at the Century Pines Jewish Center at Century Village in Pembroke Pines, FL, Governor Charlie Crist spoke to a crowd of about 300 people about the problems of Social Security, explaining that the Social Security system is “solvent” until 2037 or perhaps 2041. He took shots at both his opponents in the race- charging that Marco Rubio “wants to raise the age of Social Security” and that Kendrick Meek wants to “punt the issue to another committee”.

So, if Social Security is “solvent” as the Governor states, then why would he say that Social Security is in financial trouble? And if this is really the case, why would he also state that there are also other ways, like a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants that would help Social Security and other programs? Watch the Video!

Hmm. Same thing said earlier in the week by other liberal Republicans. Was it Colon Powell or Bloomberg? Can’t remember. They are all interchangeable at this point.

This is definitely the new leftist talking point, and ridiculous. We have built a failed system, and have to change it. The idea of paying huge percentages of our money into the government system to payout immediately to someone else is not a retirement plan. It is a ponzi scheme, and needs to be phased out so we don’t bankrupt the country.

“So, if Social Security is “solvent” as the Governor states, then why would he say that Social Security is in financial trouble?”

Because Republicans and Democrats together are trying to create an environment where they can steal more from social security to pay for other things.

Also this is the purpose of Obama’s “Deficit Commission”—to create a story how they can raid social security to “save it”

Sure, illegal aliens, who break the law every day of their lives, are going to get the vote and then volunteer to support old baby boomers, who got in this fix by aborting their own children.

Ha ha, Crist is a maroon (Bugs B. definition). I think he may be a GOP plant to take votes from Meek.

This demonstrates a serious flaw in leftnut reasoning, but one that might have some effect on the frightened retirees in Florida. Crist is proving to be a true, radical leftnut.

But Charlie, the Official Democrat Lie (tm) about Social Security is that there IS no financial problem with it.

If you’re going to prostitute yourself, Charlie, at least **** the way they want you to.

So, if Social Security is “solvent” as the Governor states, then why would he say that Social Security is in financial trouble?

It IS solvent. On paper. If you believe that the non-marketable electronic Treasury securities held in the name of the SSA actually have value.

OTOH, if you're grounded in reality and don't believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, honest politicians who selflessly work for the public good and other well-known lies, then you understand that every single penny of the excess funds brought in by Social Security over the past 25 or so years was borrowed by Treasury and promptly spent. Since the deficit is well over $1 Trillion/year for the foreseeable future (and the economy is getting worse, not better, meaning that the deficits will actually be higher), there is literally no way that Treasury could possibly pay SSA the money it is owed. IOW, it is a giant ponzi scheme. So in that sense, Crist is right - the system IS in financial trouble.

Bringing in more illegals - or legals, for that matter - will not only not solve the SS problem (or any other part of our deficit), but they'll make it worse. We've already shipped most manufacturing jobs out of the country, and bringing in yet more people to work in service jobs as competition for US citizens will only further devastate the economy. Remember folks, if you run a large corporation, all you really care about is the bottom line. What about the people and communities involved in production? Well, you don't care quite so much about them. Unless they're willing to take a much lower salary or wage, you'll shut down the plant and build a new one in China, India, Malaysia, wherever. The big loser is the highly-paid worker - and all who depend directly on him (family) and indirectly - taxing authorities and various merchants from whom the worker would buy goods and services. Even assuming that the immigrants would be honest and report all of their income (yeah, right, that's going to happen), first of all their wages would be lower (and so would tax revenue) and, second, they would produce an even larger unfunded liability down the road.

The solution to the SS problem is to make a one-time large cut in the SS payments to all recipients, make it permanent, and then stretch out the retirement age to more closely reflect life expectency. People also need to be told, EXPLICITLY, in a lot of PSAs extending over a period of years, that SS is NOT a retirement plan, only a supplement to ordinary savings.

But all of that would require that crooked SOBs like Crist first grow a pair, and then be honest with us. I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Doom on you Charlie. You are going to lose this election so you can bloviate all you want.

Illegals suck up more SS than they contribute. You are a rotten liar Charlie ...Get ready to go job hunting in the dreaded private sector. I’m sure you will become a DC lobbyist within 6 months. You consider yourself too good for Florida

Finally -— FOAD you homo dumbass
