Zeituni Onyango, President Obama's Kenyan aunt, says Obama didn't pull strings to keep her in US

President Barack Obama's aun tZeituni Onyango, right, is the half-sister of Obama's late father

President Obama's Kenyan aunt says her nephew didn't pull any strings to help her stay in the U.S.

"Don't drag my child into this," Zeituni Onyango said in her first interview since she was granted asylum in May, apparently referring to Obama.

Onyango, who lives in public housing and collects a $700 monthly disability check, also insisted "the system" took advantage of her.

"I didn't take advantage of the system," she said.

In the first of a two-part interview with WBZ-TV in Boston, Onyango said she never intended to stay when she arrived in the U.S. in 2000.

Onyango, 58, said she contracted an auto-immune syndrome called Giullain-Barre and couldn't afford to fly home to Kenya. She said she endured two years in a homeless shelter before landing in a Boston public housing project.

"I didn't ask for it, they gave it to me," she said. "Ask your system. I didn't create it or vote for it. Go and ask your system."

Onyango, who admits she overstayed her visa, was denied asylum the first time she applied in 2004.

The same judge reversed himself in May and allowed Onyango to stay after her lawyer argued that she faced discrimination in Kenya as a member of the minority Luo tribe.

"If I come as an immigrant, you have the obligation to make me a citizen," Onyango said.

Asked how she was able to afford an immigration lawyer, Onyango credited a higher power.

"When you believe in Jesus Christ and Almighty God, my help comes from heaven," she said.

Onyango is the half-sister of Obama's late father, also named Barack, who abandoned the future president as a toddler and saw him only once after that.

Obama said he had no idea the woman he calls "Auntie Zeituni" was here illegally when it was first reported in 2008.

"If she has violated laws, then those laws have to be obeyed," the then presidential candidate told CBS at the time. "We are a nation of laws."

Onyango later attended Obama's presidential inauguration.

He loves any and all immigrants. Illegals, terrorists. But not his family!

I'm pretty sure that line is inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty.

Well, for someone who gets 700 clams a month for disability and lives in public housing, she looks pretty well dressed and calm in this pic.

Aunt Zetuni/ I wonder how that translates? “She who rips off kafirs in Bay State”?

Not only did Auntie live here illegally for years, she got free medical care including a hip replacement courtesy of the taxpayers. Obama laments about fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid raising health care costs ...here is a prime example. Perhaps to set things right he should reimburse the taxpayers for her medical care and wave good bye as she is deported back to Kenya.
