No, really. Every week a bunch of dark, poorly shaven guys show up and take care of my lawn. But I don't know anything about them. If I ever have a question there's always at least one one who speaks some English. I don't ask for a Green Card. I don't know that any of them are anything other than guys trying to make it here.

Shop around. The man who takes care of my yard is a partly-disabled USA veteran who does a great job for a reasonable price. He'll have the work for as long as he's physically up to it, and I'll recommend him to anyone who asks.
You know what’s really strange? I moved into my house seven years ago. The next week a bunch of gardeners showed up and did the yard work. My wife asked them for a business card so she could contact the company to get a quote and switch the account over to us as the new owners.
They never returned our calls, and when we did contact them directly told us the owner would call us in a couple of days. Long and short, they never have gotten a contract to us, never ask for money and keep doing the yard every week or two (albeit not high quality work).
We’d fire them, but they don’t really work for us, and don’t seem to understand when we try to talk to them about it. I give the workers sodas and snacks whenever I see them, and tip them once a year. The neighbor two doors down does pay a contract, and gets mad because some weeks they do our yard and skip his. Guess he should consider sodas.
