Interesting that you choose to quote Mao on your profile, B*stard. Anyway, as I’ve said before, the cultural bedrock of America is her antisemitism. It is probably what drove you to elect a marxist muslim as president. Talk about reaping the whirlwind. Enjoy, folks ;).
“the CIA is openly anti-Israel and the State Department is anti-semetic . . . Those are not facts, they are interpretations of facts.”
Hardly. The CIA and State Department have been actively trying to subvert Israel since before Israel existed. Anyone who denies this is either an idiot or willfully blind.
Indeed, as noted on this very thread, the animus behind Israel’s acceptance of Pollard’s offer was the CIA’s failure to fulfil its legal obgligations to share radio intel that was promised under treaty.
Again, let’s hear the criticism of Australia, who had no such reasonable motive.
— crickets —
In fact, I'll offer that we should fly Rat Bastard Pollard halfway to Australia, and drop him off there ...
But I don't think I'll have to ...
Check this out (I know ... wikipedia ... hahahahaha!)
During the course of the Pollard trial, Australian authorities reported the disclosure of classified American documents by Pollard to one of their own agents, a Royal Australian Naval officer who had been engaged in a personnel-exchange liaison program between the U.S. and Australian Navies.[17] The Australian officer, alarmed by Pollard's repeated disclosure of NOFORN data to him, reported the indiscretions to his chain of command which in turn recalled him from his position in the U.S., fearing that the disclosures might be part of a "CIA ruse".[17] Confronted with this accusation after entering his plea, Pollard only admitted to passing a single classified document to the Australian; later, he changed his story, and claimed that his superiors ordered him to share information with the Australians.[17]
Just checked Google Earth.
Exactly halfway from North Carolina to Australia is Hawaii!!!
On second thought, I'll be generous.
We'll fly Rat Bastard Pollard a full TWO THIRDS of the way to Australia before dropping him off ...
Hitler’s Pope? Well, Hitler was trying to Nazify Christianity. Howeverl, if you mean Pope Pius, he saved more Jews than the entire list of righteous gentiles at Yad Vashem.
“During the course of the Pollard trial, Australian authorities reported the disclosure . . .”
Translation: Australia did it too and so made a half-ass disclosure to avoid bad press.
I won’t defend my countrymen’s pleas for Pollard, but I do know where they are coming from:
1. They are generally unaware he was a drug-addled spy for hire. They think he spied for G-d and Israel. Legally irrelvant, but significant and more honorable.
2. His spying saved countless Israeli lives. Again, the CIA betrayed Israel and was intentionally denying Israel intel that was legally owed to Israel (and, in fact, intel that was possible through Israel’s sharing of its own resources). You can forgive a lot of bad acts when your life is saved.
3. His sentence is particularly harsh. On the surface, it seems unfair. Of course, the public is generally unaware of his sale (through his wife) of information to the Chinese, which is what I believe to be the real animus behind his sentence.
4. When Pollard is discussed, the usual cadre of Israel and Jew-haters rear their heads. This makes legitimate, serious, people suspect, and discussion difficult.
So there you go, in four points, why Israelis get bent out of shape about Pollard.
Why did you leave off the part where the Aussie Naval Officer reported Rat Bastard Pollard's misbehaviour to his chain of command, and was withdrawn from the situation by said CoC?
They think he spied for G-d and Israel.
And if he were an Israeli citizen, working in a foreign nation in service to his God and Country, I wouldn't have a huge problem with that. Nations all spy on each other. When agents get caught, they get declared PNG and sent home. Frequently, some diplomatic arm-twisting goes on, too ... but that's just business.
But Rat Bastard Pollard wasn't an Israeli citizen, he was a native-born citizen of these United States. Worse, he was working in a position of trust for the United States government. He sold out his country to a foreign power. There's no excuse for that.
You can forgive a lot of bad acts
Please don't try to make Israel into some sort of victim in this tawdry affair. Rat Bastard Pollard sold stolen documents to Israel. Israel was the instigator of this crime, not its victim, and is in to position to "forgive" "bad acts".
His sentence is particularly harsh.
Tough. Since I think they should all have hanged, I'm not particularly sympathetic to that.
When legitimate, serious, people get accused, from the outset, of racism they quickly learn that charges of racism are meaningless drivel.
“Why did you leave off the part where the Aussie Naval Officer reported Rat Bastard Pollard’s misbehaviour to his chain of command, and was withdrawn from the situation by said CoC”
Because it’s bullsh!t that didn’t happen. If you had any experience in international affairs, you would know that.
Regarding your other points, again, I am not defending Pollard, I am understanding why so many in Israel mistakenly defend him.
Your inability to comprehend that (together with other silliness) prohibits taking you seriously.
LOL! You were there?
Your country got caught with its metaphorical hand in the metaphorical cookie jar, and now your country's paid spy (not agent, I hope you understand the difference) is rotting in prison where even you acknowledge he belongs.
If your country, and your countrymen, were to quit clamouring for his release from prison, we wouldn't have to have these conversations.
Apparently, Rat Bastard Pollard is up for parole in 2015. Yay!
Halfway from North Carolina to Israel is just east of the Mid Atlantic Ridge. Bring a boat.
together with other silliness
I see three forms of silliness on this thread:
1) The silly notion that RBP got worse than he deserved
2) The silly notion that RBP should be released from prison early.
3) The silly notion that opposing RBP's release from prison is always or even usually motivated by racial bigotry.
No. And then no again. And after that, no. Furthermore, no to releasing 1,000 terrorists for Gilad Shalit, and no to any other attempts to sell out the whole people in exchange for hostage releases. Shame on the US for this tawdry offer.
“You were there?”
Perhaps.
Furthermore, I did not attack you personally. So just who is the "probable unprincipled douchebag" here?
PS. Do you understand double entendres?
Try this one.
If you don't understand that "attitude", you're probably the sort of person who should NOT be granted access to sensitive information. I'm not sure I'd trust you with the formula for Coca-Cola.
The rest of your post is dismissed with prejudice.
Perhaps I’m the King of England.
You do remind other posters of prince charles.
Those posters remind me of what Chuckie supposedly told Camilla he wanted to be ...
“The rest of your post is dismissed with prejudice.”
Of course it is. Much like the rest of your posts. Surprised you would admit it though.
Rat Bastard Pollard is a traitor and a spy. He's in prison where he belongs. Since you love the creep so much, be grateful we didn't fry him. Heck, you can even rejoice that we didn't stick him in Florence Supermax with Robert Hanssen.
The SOB got off easy.
JB: See what I'm talking about?
