And its not even particularly close. In a revealing portrait of likely voters in this midterm cycle, a majority of respondents to Rasmussens survey say that Sarah Palin more closely represents their point of view than does Barack Obama. The man who won the 2008 presidential election, on the other hand, only resonates with four in ten likely voters:
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Likely U.S. Voters say their own views are closer to Sarah Palins than they are to President Obamas, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
Just 40% say their views are closer to the presidents than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.
Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obamas, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palins.

If this stays true Obama will be a one time President either way. Democrats will dump him for someone else.
oh, i’ll bet david axelrod is kicking his dog right now.
She has no chance, she is not electable in any way, we need Mitt Romney to save the day, he is our only hope..........
I love sarcasm but that was dang hard to write...
I’d like to FEEL closer to Palin....
It’s a good thing you qualified that! :-)
“Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obamas, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palins.”
This says it all.
If it wasn’t for the MSM orchestrated smear campaign against Palin she would, without a doubt, be the next President of the US.
“Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obamas, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palins.”
Of the two groups, who do you think watches too much teevee?
Willie Brown, democrat Mayor of SF saw this way back in 2008.
“Palin didn’t have to prove she was “of the people.” She really is the people.”
That's gonna leave a mark.
And what's best about it is that it means all the snotty, haughty, superior talk from all the lefty media and pols about Palin is going to be a negative for more people than could possibly agree with it.
Would like to be a fly on the wall when Barry and the Wookie discuss THIS bit of news.
She’ll probably slap the little turd around.
Indeed.
Her biggest problem isn’t going to be the RATS and Obama. It’s going to be the RINOS and fat ‘n’ happy stuffed shirts in our own party.
People love a comeback story, and they love to see someone fight off bullies and come out stronger for it, especially when it is a woman, and especially a pretty woman. Like her or not, you have to respect Sarah for what she has done, she is an amazing woman to be in the position she is in as a private citizen and one of the most influential women in the world. This after being relentlessly slammed by the media, by dems, and by elitist pubbies for 2 years now.
She has truly earned her power, unlike Obama who is just a toadie for powerful anti american interests. People will clearly see this, as apparently they do with the recent ras poll. It will only get better for her.
The MSM smear campaign helps Palin.
The MSM Yawns in August 2008, who knows?
Palin might very well hate the specifics of their attacks, but no one really cares about any other Republicans but Palin (and now O’Donnell). Mitt Huck and Newt just aren’t going anywhere in 11/12.
All Palin needs to do to wipe away the smears is be competent in debates in 2011.
Just competent. Not phenominal.
And if she doesn’t ditch the Trotskyite neocons (Kristol and his friends like Krauthammer, Gerson and all the rest), she could be attacked on that, and justifiably so.
We need a 100% Strong America foreign policy. No pointless neocon adventures.
newfreep to Myth Romney RINOs: “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”
He will be impeached, or he will resign.
People are predicting 40-60 seat for the republicans because of all the "safe" democrat seats. I'm not sure how many "safe" dem seats there really are. Could be a very small number.
Charles Krauthammer and Jim DeMint are saddened.
The 40% that are on the dole...
