This video is horrifying and maybe just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

God help us if "security" forces have the right to determine who can and who can't talk

Not really. It was at a state fair, was it not? That is state property, not private property. That guy, who was a disabled veteran, sacrificed much for that property, and no doubt paid taxes to support that property.

Is that frightening or what?

This is more like the Soviet Union or Red China than the Untied States of America.

And at least one of the "Security" guards identified himself as a State Trooper????

This would have been all over the news and praised as a courageous act met with state aggression if the only difference was that the sign called for the impeachment of Bush during his administration.

The greatness of this nation of finished.

Anti-Americans are in charge.

The Alaska State Fair, a nonprofit corporation, has explained from the beginning that the fairgrounds are private property, and that it has the right to regulate conduct across the property including solicitation, advertising, display of signs, materials distribution or other related activities. That policy is detailed in the Vendor Handbook which is available for review on the Fair’s website. Anyone refusing to comply with the Fair’s policy is asked to leave the property, and Phipps says the incident on Thursday fell within this policy.

What not to say to a cop.

Maybe it is just me, but I cannot envision acting that way towards a police officer. This man’s affect and attitude completely overshadows a very valid point: He (or anyone else) has every right to express a political belief. God knows there was lots of latitude given during the Bush Administration.

I was raised to respect LE. Respect does not mean subservience.

Thank you. In most states, the fairgrounds are state property. Interesting. That said—they used more force than needed for a disabled veteran. I guess it’s part of the “thanks from a grateful nation” package.

i would say fear le.
they are jerk offs
i ripped one of them a new one
i live in a suburb where the leo’s perceive the kids to be spoiled brats
maybe they are i don’t know
kids get pulled over for driving while teen
it just punishes the parents
my kid got pulled over
cop fabricated a dui
took my kid to the station
asked him to take a breath test
kid passed
they called me to pick him up
i was at a play with my daughter
had to leave the play to go bail him out for a lane violation which royally ticked me off
asked the pr8ck where was the car
it was at the impound lot
i informed the bast8rd at about 1000 decibels that he was just punishing the parents when he pulled this sh8t
needless to say i think cops have descended to the depths of h8ll and are agents of the devil

“They are called badge-kissers”

Actually they are people who followed this story the first time it was posted and went to YouTube and watched the full 9 minute cut.

They found out it was private property and the man was asked to leave. They found out later the man had a gun on him that was prohibited on fairground property-private property. They also wondered what the heck the fairground people were doing allowing a man to bring a ten foot pole in through the gates.

Now, the people may not like how it was handled and commented on it the first time around, but at least they were interested in the facts. They weren't the type of Freepers to simply label other Freepers “badge-kissers.”

Because, they had a clue as to what they were talking about.

Sounds as if he has a history..ie his comment about harrasment and a no parking sign.

I watched the entire thing. I cannot fault the cops. Other people made asses out of themselves as well. I bet the mama of that kid in the brown plaid shirt is proud of her baby boy.

I’d rip my sons a new one if I saw them behave that way, I don’t care how old they are.

"Already posted about 2~3 weeks ago. This guy was yelling and provoking security so his buddy with the camera could capture it all."

Even if he was yelling, this authoritative bullying was WAY over the top.

Do you know for a fact that he didn't start his yelling after they began harassing him about his sign?

I was part of the sixties protests by the people who were the trailblazers for those in charge of dismantling this nation from within today. Open taunting and daring police to try and stop us was routine. The more vociferous we were the more "noble" we felt.

You seem to feel they were justified in ordering him to take down his sign and when he refused to press him to the ground with a beefy forearm on his neck and a fat knee in his back, handcuff him and arrest him because he brought it on himself.

I find your dismissal of it on the grounds you state here quite disturbing from anyone who has shown enough apparent discernment to be part of FreeRepublic for as long as you have.

Obviously you would have been one of the people standing around passively watching...which is as big a predictor of the fact that individual freedom is doomed in this nation as the abusive behavior you defend.

had the obligation to act like a decent citizen. he acted like he was having a bad trip on acid. any cop with any sense would have tried to lead him away. he was disturbing the peace.

puhleeze, get real.

C'mon, everyone knows you never know what to expect from someone waving a "LaRouche" sign.

I respect your opinion. His history notwithstanding, I doubt he would have raised the ruckus he did if he had not been ordered to remove the sign. IMO his boisterous removal caused a greater disturbance than allowing him to display his sign would have.

Where was the gun? If he had a gun, wouldn’t they have taken it off of him?

I cannot fault the cops.

The manhandling was not done by cops but by the fair's security staff.

I doubt that Muslims with signs extolling Muhammed and Islam would have been similarly ejected.

My son was pulled over for going 45 in a 35 mile zone. It was 8:30 am & he was on his way to a Sat morning baseball practice. He has never been a morning person.

He rolled out of bed, brushed his teeth (if you could call it that) and left. The windows were rolled down. Of course the music could be heard.

Cop follows him & pulls him over. “Do you know why I pulled you over son?”
“Yes sir”
“Can I search your car ?”
“Yes sir”
Got out of car & was patted down. Officer made him open mouth & stick out tongue.
Was instructed to stand behind car while officer searched.
Officer searched.
Found nothing.
The officer then explained why he asked to search the car. Speeding, windows down, music, red eyes (had just gotten out of bed) and the can of AXE deodorant spray in the console of the Honda which could describe every inbred meth head around here.. (Axe is the favorite to hide the smell of weed)

Officer did not ticket son for speeding, gave him a warning.

My point is there are good stories as well. We just don't hear about them as much. I do have a healthy fear of LE. I have always taught my kids that you cannot win an argument with a cop on the street or a teacher in the classroom. That is not the place.

Concurring bump.

The tape was also edited to exclude the additional behavior that precipitated this guy's takedown.
