Darn it, I hit the send button too fast. Let me try again:

There’s something innately and immediately GALLING to me about the thought of voluntarily leaving MY Country ...

I'm sure that many that came from Europe to America for freedom also had the same thoughts. However, for the better part of the last 400 years, this land has been the beacon for those who have longed to be free.

However, there are too many now who want to be enslaved...

Oh, absolutely! And I do believe that during those immigrant waves, the best and bravest came here and helped make us what we are - or were. They were the toughest, willing to brave the insanity of the world to get here.

I think the real point is, they HAD somewhere to run TO. WE don’t, even if we were inclined to want to leave.
