Gingrich married his second wife, Marianne Ginther, months after he divorced Battley in 1981. According to Battley, Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.
"There are things in my own life that I have gotten on my knees and turned to God and prayed about," Gingrich said.
Gingrich also acknowledged cheating on Ginther while leading the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton for allegations of perjury involving the Paula Jones sexual harassment civil case and the president's affair with Monica Lewinsky.
Gingrich argued that the Clinton case was different from his personal transgressions.
"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge," he said, arguing that Clinton had "deliberately committed perjury."
Constantly espousing family values even while he carried on an affair, Gingrich linked his party to wholesome family values and Democrats to, well, something else.
Gingrich divorced Ginther in 2000 and soon married his third wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide who was in her 20s when she and Gingrich began their affair.

No wonder the elite push him to run for President.
Terrence is probably just carry water for Palin or Romney, not Democrats.
My money is on Palin, who has signaled her intent to run for president recently, and he realizes that she won’t be able to hold her own against Newt in a presidential primary debate.
Libs can say that. Conservatives demand leaders that adhere to stronger rules of conduct.
Newt is damaged goods. There is no chance, NONE WHATSOEVER, that he could be considered Presidential material now or in the future — unless he wants to switch parties and run as a Democrat.
Dishonorable is dishonorable is dishonorable.
Newt says, “Callista and I don’t like this article”.
“Callista and I are committed to serving God”.
“Callista and I produced this movie...”.
“Callista and I, blah, blah, blah, ad infinitum”
If Gingrich is truly interested in the fate of the Republic he will stay out of the race.
Newt is obviously a brilliant man, and probably a great debater, and yes probably better than Sarah. Problem is, he has no integrity, nor moral compass, and apparently no political principles that he stands by regardless what pain and suffering they might bring him. The fool sat on the couch with Nazi Pelosi FCOL and tried to sell us the crap sandwich we know as global warming, and endorsed Scozzafava who later endorsed the dem.
Newt might win the debate, but I wouldn’t vote him for even dog catcher. Sarah smokes him on everything that really matters.
If they’ll cheat their own wives, it only stands to reason they’ll cheat the rest of us as well.
Agreed.
Yo ABC:
Gingrich’s hypocrisy and disgusting amorality, does not in any way diminish Clinton’s many crimes, known and not so well known.
The hypocrisy accusation is a major offensive weapon routinely deployed by the Left.
Newt has a role in brainstorming about ideas and (sometimes) challenging liberals on TV, but no one who cares about integrity and judgment and character should support him for higher office
Who alive on this planet doesn’t know all about this? Maybe teenagers and crackheads haven’t heard about this but they only vote Democrat nowadays anyway.
Let me pull something from my Recycle Bin that I sent to McCain when he was working on amnesty (long before the primaries for 2008)....
“You will NEVER be President”
CC
Newt Gingrich did not. Newt Gingrich did not commit violent rape with impunity while holding the office of Attorney General, the chief law enforcement officer of his state, as Bill Clinton did.
The offenses of Bill Clinton are much more egregious than the infidelities of Newt Gingrich and to say otherwise supports Democrat attempts to marginalize Clinton's High Crimes and Misdemeanors.
You military duty is an honorable and valiant service to our nation!
You may want to examine AlamoGirl's THE DOWNSIDE LEGACY ARCHIVES for more study.
After reading this I don’t expect Newt to make a bid for the presidency.
He may not pass the smell test now, but he did a lot in 1994 to stand up to Clinton and I appreciate that. The real stench is from the Democratic party.
When he was committing adultery, I wonder if his gal pal said: “don’t you feel hypocritical for going after Clinton and his indiscretions while you are having an affair?”.
King David syndrome. The fall from grace. Sounds proverbial to me!
I agree completely. It is almost painful to see/hear him now. He totally wasted any opportunity he might have had.
Out of all the B.S. flung out by Clinton’s flying monkeys, one thing was true: “They all do it.”
That’s why it’s best not to idolize politicians.
