Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

WOW! I really loved almost every post in this thread!!
WOW! I really really loved almost every post in this thread!!! but...
I do not agree with boycotting FNC. If I did that I wouldn't have any news channel to watch and I love most of everything on FNC.
What do you people think about letting FNC know that we would prefer not to see Rove and one of my past favorites (that I supported on another blog about a month ago right here) namely Charles Krautheimer. He suffers from the same elitism as Rove.
Didn't he say that before he goes on the air he likes to pleasure himself each time? And he used to be an out of work comedian crashing on Jay Leno's couch.
IMHO you and rove are koo koo
“He is now working for the dimoKKKRATS the way I see it.”
It does seem that way - whether intentional or not. But from the look on his face, I think he immediately realized he’d stepped in it. Again!
Chris Wallace asked whether Murk was going to be able to win with her write-in campaign, and Rove said no. He should have left it at that, but know-it-all-itis made an ugly appearance which resulted in some good advice to Murk’s voters to make sure they do it the right way!
Neither do I. But how long do allow yourself to be attacked before you fight back. We have trusted(not me) political hacks since the turn of the nineteenth century. Look where that has put us. There are people on this site who think paying fifteen percent of their income is somehow acceptable. And that is only federal income tax let alone all other taxes state and local. What needs to happen to smack you on the head so you will wake up?
I do believe that's a big part of rove's problem: Sarah.
Sarah is the new 'king maker' in town - and not just one candidate at a time, but a whole slate all across the country...and she's doing it openly and above board instead of back room, behind the scenes deals.
He's furious at this and then along comes ANOTHER bright, attractive new face and the people are wild about her.
He looks in the mirror and the mirror is saying: "Your time in the sun is over , Rove, Baby. Time to sink gracefully into the sunset while you have some reputation left."
It's fast getting too late for that...He's self-destructing.and it sounds like he's willing to destoy our chance at stopping the destruction the Rats have planned to ram through from Nov to Jan, and will work actively to undermine O'Donnell, just to satisfy his own enflated ego. (If not for personally knowing "W" in the early years, I doubt anyone would ever have heard of Karl Rove. He reached pinnacles he could never have dreamed of nor gotten too without someone Else's coattails. He can't let go.)
The days of being satisfied with a candidate simply because they have an "R" after their name is over.
How about this:
“Oh rubbish, Karl. You have no power here. Begone before someone drops a house on you!”
Why do you believe it is crazy to ask a representative why they associate with witchcraft?
Tokyo Rove
Christine just laughed it off. She’s going to be a rock star of a candidate. She’ll destroy the Democrat.
“How many of you didn’t hang out with questionable folks in high school?” she asked fellow Republicans at a GOP picnic in southern Delaware on Sunday.
“There’s been no witchcraft since. If there was, Karl Rove would be a supporter now,” O’Donnell jokingly assured the crowd.
Obama needs to explain his dabbling with cocaine...
I’m sure there are lots of other “dabblings” that need to be explained.
“What do you people think about letting FNC know that we would prefer not to see Rove and one of my past favorites (that I supported on another blog about a month ago right here) namely Charles Krautheimer. He suffers from the same elitism as Rove.”
I wrote FNC two days ago, but also included Dana Perino. That was followed by sending Chris a donation if for no better reason than to (insert sign language) Rove.
That is actually a good argument. However, now your getting into a debate over who can win and what is it to be "electable". I was very young, but I can not remember thinking (or anyone in my family) that Reagan was unelectable. He was probably as conservative as we could get while STILL being electable. So he was a good choice and we are all the better for it. Goldwater may just have been the best we could do at the time. I wasn't born yet.
Lets say it was discovered during the 80' primaries that Reagan had a closet full of skeletons that would have later made him very unappealing in the general - then I would have said we shouldn't nominate him. No such skeletons existed though. He was a great example of nominating the most conservative candidate who could get elected.
Had O'Donnell had her same views, AND a good financial record, no sex discrimination suits against conservative organizations, etc, etc, I would have said she was a good choice over Castle. My problem is, she has so many skeletons that she is probably NOT electable in Delaware. In a year where that seat may give us control of the body, I would have preferred we nominate an (R) who can win.
Some people here, like yourself, have made some good points. I can definitely understand there are times to throw caution to the win and nominate only on principle - even if it means losing a few cycles. If we are building a movement, sometimes that will be necessary. All in all though, I think the Tea Party efforts would have been better spent helping someone like Angle (who is also not exactly a stellar candidate) instead of fighting on another front that we could have afforded to ignore this time around since at least we'd have gotten a Senator who would vote for a Republican for majority leader.
Why do you believe it is crazy to ask a representative why they associate with witchcraft?
Oh for heaven sakes, get over yourself. What a stupid question. She was a teeny bopper then, you ding dong. She is now in her 40’s, and isn’t “associating with witchcraft.” If you can’t figure out the difference in her being in her teens and her now being in her 40’s, then you have a bigger screw loose than you seem to claim she has. Give it up. You’ve had your say, and it is the equivalent of nothing said at all that anyone wants to listen to.
Sarah already had plans to go to Delaware. In an off the cuff remark after her speech at the Iowa Reagan Dinner the other night, she said that she wants to return to Iowa - after she goes to Delaware.
I can only assume this is a joke.
Actually, the GOP's Achilles Heel has always been, not who's the best candidate?" but "Whose turn is it?"
That has brought the GOP to this state.
Sorry, not buying it. The election is not about her personal issues, it's about the future of our country, apostrophized by a Republican or Democrat senate.
If she doesn't win, it will be because Delaware voters prefer to elect a leftist. They have a completely clear choice.
