The night Christine O'Donnell won the GOP nomination for Senate in Delaware, party stalwart Karl Rove flipped out, and warned that she was a liar, of ill-character, and generally not the kind of person that the party should get behind.
It only took an instant for other party leaders like Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin to flip out right back at him. But why did Rove take this tack? It's not because he's not into right-wingers

There is a status quo in this country.
A group of folks playing good cop bad cop for the public and then yukking it up with smoking cigars and drinking cognac in the private chambers, having a good laugh about how they put one over on us.
They need to go.
Reminds me Diana Irey, the gal who challenged Silver Star Murtha, in the district near Pittsburgh that should have been solid red but kept the king of bring-home-the-bacon. She got a lot of help from FReepers but still lost. Actively working against her was the chairman of the GOP in PA and Richard Mellon Scaif, remember him? the so-called right wing conservative newspaper owner who funded efforts to find out the truth on Bubba Clinton. The thing is many people become vested in the damnedest of scoundrels, like Murtha, as were are in Castle. We just have to fight, support and fight some more.
No it is not that simple, he was in full attack mode, he practically outlined the strategery to defeat her. Why? He could only do that if he wanted her to lose, else he would have just shut up.
“party leaders like Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin
Huh? Leaders? Leaders of WHAT? Media?
We trust media now? Hmmm. “
Actually... yes. I trust Rush and Michelle to tell the truth FAR more than those encrusted bunch of ego-driven buttholes in Congress (and I’m talking about OUR side. My opinion of the other side is, needless to say, considerably worse).
Here’s my thought - Rove has been selling us “liberal-lite” RINOism for a decade now. He pushed Bush on us, and never defended Bush when he did defy the left. He’s in the same corner with this leftist, and he hasn’t made much noise at all about the communist that now resides in the White House, nor has he blasted Pelosi, Reid, or the rest of the leftists that so desperately deserve it. Likewise, he’s never said a nasty word about Snowe, Collins, Graham, or any of the other liberals masquerading as Republicans.
Nope - he saves all his nasty criticism for the conservative candidate that has the gall to garner more votes than his RINO pick. He’s losing the electorate, and he knows it. The conservatives majority is no longer with him. His gig is up.
I think he’s been trying to steer the US towards a one-world government, not by drawing others to the great constitutional republican form of government that the US has enjoyed, but by molding the US to match the governments of Europe.
More so, because they are wolves in sheep clothing. I outed Rove on this forum years ago when he was the magnificent b@stard, now he is just a b@stard. People marveled that he delivered two terms for Bush, but he lost the house, the senate and the Presidency, how is that a win? It can only be a win, if that was the plan all along? Nudge, nudge.
You could be right, I don’t know, I can’t read his mind. I think I’m probably exhausted from reading everyone’s suppositions.
I think the most likely reason is nothing deep or nefarious. He’s probably friends with Castle.
He also wants the GOP to win the majority and sincerely believes that Castle’s loss is detrimental to those chances. A lot of people believe the same thing.
I’m commenting without reading the article you linked to but your comment about the ‘emotionally’ invested caught my eye. I’m wondering just what kind of shannigans these rinos have been pulling while in session and now the threat of dirty dealings coming to light is making them behave this way.
I know they are dirty...but the question is, just how dirty and what kind of a trail has been left behind? And what plans were derailed because they lost? Just a thought...
Maybe. I see a lot of people say a lot of things on FR that they know to be true that don’t turn out to be. It’s fine to have an opinion, and in fact it’s interesting to read them. Personally, I don’t know why he did what he did, and unless someone has a real in and knows him, their opinion is simply that. An opinion.
A lot of people believe the same thing

Then that means they would settle for a RINO,
‘cause that’s what Castle is .. a controllable
RINO, who crosses the aisle .. frequently.

All this thinking on why Rove supported Castle is fine, but after the vote, he had an obligation to embrace the winner. Certainly he of all people knows how corrosive the lack of a true “win” was for Dubya in 2000, “selected not elected”, illegitimate, etc. He says so in his book. He whines about how Nixon graciously allowed Kennedy to steal IL and not gripe about the election. Then he pulls this cry-baby stunt.
I am sure of that too, but if you read that article, they almost were treating Castle getting in like a party, thinking he would run away with Biden’s seat. This wasn’t just shenanigans, but an actual emotional investment in this race.
He puts the NO in RINO.
Chuck Norris backs Huckabee
and tack (you know like horse tack)
Gosh, does this person actually get paid for writing. Really, I’m seriesly considering venturing out into that field. I got some good english :O
Newt is fond of Castle also, should raise red flags everywhere. These people are out to destroy our Constitution, they can't be friends, they are the enemy within.
Every time I see that loon Hatch on TV, it reminds me that Ted Kennedy was his best friend, how is that possible?
Like Satan and Jesus could just get along, and have comity in heaven.
It turned me off to Rove forever. There is no getting around the fact that his star is fading forever because of this.
“I see a lot of people say a lot of things on FR that they know to be true that dont turn out to be.”
I agree, brytlea. I have been flat out wrong. Sometimes, though, the word gets out and plans change. I am also of the impression that when things appear to be in play, they sometimes really are in play and are thus volatile.
Controlling the outcome has been the expectation until now. On both sides. Town halls are almost unreported this year. Now, the elections and composition of both houses is looking up for grabs if not lost to some side or another. Or, maybe, to BOTH.
DC’s hangover from the absolute power binge has yet to begin. I doubt many there even realize yet that they’ve lost the keys.
I agree, and his continuing outbursts are putting his disdain for the average American on display for all to see.
