Fresh off her victory in Delaware, GOP U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell is riding a wave of campaign cash but also internet infamy, thanks in part to her controversial statements -- most notably on masturbation -- in the late 1990s on Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect." Christine O'Donnell says one of her first dates occurred on a satanic altar.
On Friday, Maher released on his new HBO show, "Real Time," an unaired clip of O'Donnell admitting to a brief dalliance with witchcraft.

> “This is about the media painting one remarkably odd candidate as the face of the Tea Party and the Republican party”
.
Bullshit!
There is absolutely nothing in any way odd about O’Donnell; she is as close to an ideal candidate as you can get. She is an outstanding speaker, and has a solid grip on the issues. She is an obvious winner.
.
> “YOU HAVE BEEN OUTED!”
.
Yes, he has, many times.
He is actively anti-christ, and one of the biggest decievers on FR.
.
Umm, you made the assertion TODAY, making your ‘facts’ wrong.
Remember. You are entitled to be a complete retard when it comes to political analysis, but you are not entitled to your own facts.
I've seen nothing from you on this thread except personal insults, false 'facts', and boneheaded drivel that is somehow supposed to pass for political analysis.
The fact that you wrote this sentence, really sums up my entire argument.
When speaking about a Republican Senate candidate, you say "So, she dabbled in witchcraft. So what?", and you don't see the problem in that statement.
Here's the bottom line - O'Donnell can be better than Castle, FAR better than Coons, and still be a peculiar, strange or even nutty person.
She has absolutely no record of personal achievement, other than being a guest on MTV and ABC talk shows. She has started no businesses. She has managed no businesses, or even have a record of any discernable mid-management experience in any business. She has not held prior office of any kind. She not a remarkable military leader. She has published no scholarly works, or possessed any other kind of notable acedemic achievement.
And in spite of all that, she's the person to hang your hat on. It's simply amazing.
So many other quality Republican candidates out there who need help - and have a likelihood of winning - and yet it's this very odd woman who's being sainted.
i’m 58 yeras old. i dabbled as a conscientious objector when i started college. 5 years later i graduated and had a commission in the army. anything longer then 10 years ago (except felonies, treason and driving cars off bridges) is the stuff of desperation
“Obama had ZERO accomplishments and he is president. Just sayin”
Yeah, and how is that working out. Just sayin.
> “will support O’Donnell until the bitter end...”
.
For you the end will be truly bitter!
O’Donnell will will win, and we will have another sensible, articulate Christian in the senate.
Cry on your beer.
After reading through 200+ posts on this thread one fact becomes obvious: far too many Freepers are so obsessed with “just saying” that they are forgetting (or refusing) to do any thinking (much less any logical analysis)... /g
For example, Christine O’Donnell is now 41 years old. This video was made in 1997-1999 (Bill Maher himself says 1997 in the clip, but we don’t know for certain). So, she was age 26-29 at the time. In the clip she clearly states that the witchcraft altar incident was on one of her first dates, so it’s clear she’s referring to a time period even earlier, probably her early twenties or late teens while in school.
Another “tell” in the clip, which is being completely ignored, is that she is clearly referring in her comments to a portion of the conversation which preceded the clip Maher has released. She states at one point “I know these people” and her acknowledgment of her own “dabbling” during her earlier years seems to be an attempt on her part to establish her “first-hand knowledge” credibility to comment on the subject which was already under discussion.
What we don’t know, and what cannot be determined from the edited clip Maher released, is what was said prior to the edited portion shown, and whether O’Donnell was commenting positively or negatively on the subject of witchcraft. She may have been approving or tolerant of it, or she may have been critical, e.g. “when I was younger I dabbled in it, but now (age 26-29) I know better”. Unless Bill Maher releases the full video, we simply don’t know the context.
What we do know, however, is that today O’Donnell is a conservative, and at some point became a Christian. In other words, the O’Donnell of 2010 is not the O’Donnell of 1999 (or even more so of the early 1990’s). As to whether conservative Christians in Delaware will allow this transparent attempt by the left (soon to be echoed by her enemies of the establishment right) to drive a wedge between her and her base and turn from her en mass over her misguided youthful experimentation we don’t know. Perhaps the example of Glenn Beck and his acknowledged alcoholism (and his ratings) should provide a clue.
Or even better, how about the recent example of Nikki Haley in South Carolina. She was born and raised a Sikh of Indian heritage, but even though she became a Christian she was nevertheless subjected to a vicious high-profile smear campaign by old-line GOP operatives. She was called a “rag head” and accused of adultery, and not just anonymously, but brazenly, with her alleged paramours stepping forth and identifying themselves. South Carolina is unquestionably far more religiously fundamentalist than Delaware, yet my knuckle-dragging, goober-eating, gun-clinging, Bible-hugging neighbors in SC saw through the smear and the scam and voted for her. Perhaps that provides a clue as well... /g
The bottom line is this type of smear, and others which are certain yet to come, may indeed sink O’Donnell’s chances, but if they do it will not be because of the intrinsic merit or truthfulness of the charges, but because of the laziness of those who refuse to put forth even a modicum of effort to investigate and determine that facts, and because of the appalling amount of outright dishonesty of so many, even right here on Free Republic, who for reasons of their own agendas deliberately spread the lies, distortions and disinformation.
Another aspect of the bottom line is that, whatever happens in individual races, the GOP RINO establishment is going down. They may knock-off O’Donnell, and probably a few others as well. Politics is a rough, dirty business and there are going to be casualties on both sides. However, they are on the wrong side of the historical and political tsunami which is now rising.
Is what someone would say if they were a bed-wetting imbecile.
Well, we have a Muslim president now, and Muslims want to kill all Christians. Would a witch be worse?
This is hilarious. Barry, his DNC flunkies and complicit mainstream journalists are now on a witch hunt and trying to gather an angry mob of simpleton townfolk to burn the witch. The Democrat Party is the Party of intolerance and superstitious paranoia.
Said the guy who's king of the douchebags. If your opinion mattered to me, I'd be hurt. Really, upset.
> “She really, really is. Who IS this person?”
.
A solid well spoken committed Christian with a good grip on the issues, that wins debates (as she has just done against the commie) and has an excellent on screen personality.
Gonna be hard on kooks like you. (really good for America though)
I’ll be just as upset when you’re banished to WAnker Central with the rest of your ilk. Won’t be long I’m sure.
So far on this thread, you have referred to the conservative Republican nominee and Tea Party Candidate in Delaware, Christine O’Donnell as a “Crackpot” (Post 235); a “mess” (post 294); an “idiot” and a “nut” (post 305) and a “peculiar strange and nutty person” (post 325)
In slamming a Tea Party conservative who is the duly elected GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate, haven’t you overstayed your welcome on this thread if not on Free Republic? You are promoting the interests of the Democrats.
> “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that O’Donnell is a nut”
.
You’re right; it takes a complete fool that hates Christian leadership in the senate.
.
First, it's spelled "deceivers". Second, I don't appreciate being called "anti-Christ" faggot.
There are posters on FR who've been opposed to Christine and in favor of Castle from day one. I suspect they'll get on threads like these to stir the hornet's nest. But most of Christine's supporters are unshakable and realize what her enemies are attempting to do.
