After President Obama says "created equal...", there is a long pause

When Obama was a state senator, he was responsible for keeping a vote from coming to the floor regarding partial birth abortion.

Pro-life advocates told him that he was responsible for babies dying and after he left the state senate they would be able to pass it because his obstruction would no longer be there. He agreed that that was true.

While he was state senator, he let it be known that the consitution should have been written "all men are born equal" rather than "all men are created equal". You can guess the implications of that regarding abortion. This is likely why he scowled when uttering these words as mentioned in the article. He found himself forced to backtrack on what he had said in Chicago.

I think you’re right, it’s the abortion implications.
