the ferocity of this criticism indicates a growing arrogance. Tea Party purists, on the Internet and elsewhere, clearly believe their ascendance makes other elements of the conservative movement unnecessary.

First, this indicates the left is afraid of this movement and suddenly is cheering for the RINO contingent of the party.

Second, it is not arrogance, it is a desire to change the Republican party in an effort to save us from Obama and the left.

Time for second chances and good enough is over. This election is crunch time.

What does anti-government conservatism offer to inner-city neighborhoods where violence is common and families are rare? Nothing. What achievement would it contribute to racial healing and the unity of our country? No achievement at all. Anti-government conservatism turns out to be a strange kind of idealism—an idealism that strangles mercy”

He might have been able to say that forty years ago, but the war on poverty has been going on for nearly fifty years. How have trillions of dollars already spent aided inner city neighborhoods? No, the results have been to drive what business there was out of the cities and the welfare rules to get that money have only promoted single motherhood. Has the left done anything to promote racial healing? No, their actions generally seem to promote more racial animosity. Does the left promote unity of our country? Nope, they have been splitting the country as much as they can.

The big government social programs have two generations of failure, so we need more of them.

And whose fault is that?!

How about decades of living off the government as 'baby daddy'. And that is not limited to inner-city neighborhoods.

Of course, if Rove had supported Christine O’Donnell, Michael Gerson would be calling Rove an idiot, and not heaping praise on him, as he’s doing in this article.

But deviations from the party line are not permitted.

I thought the Tea Party WAS and IS a deviation from Party thinking.

Who is Gerson? When WaPo people start defending Rove my antennae start to shiver. Does he think it a bit over-the-top to have Rove criticize as he did after the after the ballots were counted?

Does Rove think he may have over reacted?

How long did Rove wait to get his diploma?

This clueless idiot does not realize that that was Rove's position.

It’s a classic case of projection.
