Election 2010: Massachusetts Governor (Patrick(D)-45%, Baker(R)-42%, Cahill(I)-5%)
Rasumussen ^ | 09/17/2010 | Rasmussen

Incumbent Democrat Deval Patrick remains slightly ahead of his Republican challenger Charlie Baker in the race for governor of Massachusetts.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Bay State finds Patrick earning 45% support, while Baker picks up 42% of the vote when leaners are included. Democrat-turned-Independent candidate Tim Cahill runs a distant third with five percent (5%), and five percent (5%)more favor some other candidate in the race. Two percent (2%) are undecided.

This race now moves from Leans Democrat to a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.

Two weeks ago, when leaners were included, it was Patrick 44%, Baker 42% and Cahill eight percent (8%). Leaners are those who initially indicate no preference for either of the candidates but answer a follow-up question and say they are leaning towards a particular candidate. The approach anticipates the fact that support for third party candidates typically declines as Election Day nears and voters begin to gravitate toward one of the major party nominees.

At 5%, Cahill is nothing but a spoiler now. And, as a Rat turned Independent, you wouldn't think there's any way he'll get out of the race if it means Baker could win.

Too bad, Patrick should be very beatable in a normal year.

The more you watch the Massachusetts voters, the more you think about what a bunch of losers they are. I mean... How could they re-elect that fool?

"How could they re-elect that fool?"

I don't know. We were up there a few weeks ago and didn't meet but a handful of people who were voting for Patrick. This poll surprises me. I wonder how accurate it is.

Cahill is Chris Daggett. It didn’t work in NJ though.

Apparently it isn’t bad news for Baker?

His website-
Great news today from a new Rasmussen Reports poll that has the governor’s race tightening between me and Governor Patrick, and it’s now at 42% to 45%. As the race gets closer, people are making up their minds and recognizing that we have the message and the plans to get Massachusetts on the right track to grow jobs and reform Beacon Hill. It’s clear that this race is getting more defined each day and people have had enough of business as usual, but we have to continue our momentum and keep pushing to make sure we’re finding new voters at every corner who are looking for change.

Don’t believe it.

In New York, the ‘polls’ had Lazio ahead of Paladino, all the way up until they were tied even on Monday

On Tuesday Paladino won in a landslide- 62% to 37%

Turnout was up 400% in some districts

I wonder how accurate it is.

Me too. I talk to lots of people, and the contempt for Deval Patrick is great. The drooling moonbat towns will vote for him, as they did for Coakley, but the rest of the state may not. Most of the towns she won against Scott Brown were by a few percentage points.

The Baker campaign has so much to use against the Mini-Obama, but I wonder if they will. They have recent quotes ("It's a free country...I wish it weren't, but it is") and his refusal to enact the sales tax rollback if the voters pass it. Sure, he's retracted that claim since, but why not use it as a "flip flop" example?

Actually the corner office in MA is a moot point. Until the snakepit we refer to as a legislature on Beacon Hill gets cleaned out, Jesus Christ himself could be elected governor and nothing would change.

The three major candidates are so putrid, you can't even pick the lesser of 3 evils. Only in Massachusetts could the GOP put up such bad candidates for Gov. and Lt. Gov (the Lt. Gov candidate, Richard Tisei is a flaming swish).

Plus, Baker wrote RomneyCare which was the blueprint for ObamaCare. To me, just this one issue makes Baker unacceptable.

The ONLY positive a Baker win would provide is another point on the November 2 scoreboard for the GOP. However, I'm voting for Jill Stein. Baker may just win, but not with my vote.

If the polling is done by the gay bath-house gang it’s totally illegitimate ~ but to tell you how bad off Patrick is, he doesn’t get half the votes!

Clean out all the Republican “RINOS” and flush them down the toilet to the obscurity they so rightly deserve as “traitors” to the American nation. Remember In November!!! Get all our team to the polls, everyone!!! Stay fired up!!! Obama, his wife “Moochie” Michelle Obama, Reverand Jeremiah Wright, all hate America. Get rid of these losers at the voting booth!!! Totally Destroy the Democrat Party on November 2, 2010!!!

Pollsters rarely get MA right. They over-poll Boston and its liberal suburbs. Huge portions of the state are independent-minded, conservative leaning, don't much like city values, and have a real easy trip to the local town hall for voting.

I though except for union types and some liberal loonies that MA voters don't much care for Duval Patrick.

You've got enough problems explaining the voting patterns of all your "Del BocaVista" NY transplants living down there in "God's Waiting Room" without slamming all voters in Massachusetts.

You'd probably prefer that everybody forget what kind of voters you have in Florida that need to have some some bug eyed moron counting your "chads."

Last I looked this guy's been serving longer than Devil Patrick. Perhaps Florida voters know him?

I'll bet you even voted for this schmuck yourself.

Not looking so "Brilliant" now, are you?

Why do you want Baker to win ? Electing a Socialist Slick Willardbot like him won’t change anything (except to continue to get MA Republicans blamed for BAD policy and to flatline their paltry 10% left in the legislature). Cahill, as flawed as he is, is the most Conservative candidate in the race. A moderate liberal vs. a Socialist RINO/DIABLO and a Marxist incumbent.

Baker is for Romney and RomneyCARE.

Baker is only ahead by TRASHING Cahill (a short term advantage).

No Baker. No Romney. No more RomneyCARE.
