As a registered Conservative, I ask myself the same thing....why do I vote Republican? The RNC treatment of successful Conservative challengers in the recent primary, confirms the wisdom of leaving the Republican party. When Republican really means 'Democrat Light', there is no sense in voting Republican. I would rather have a full time enemy (Democrats) than a part time friend (Republicans). Go back to the Conservative roots, that are the foundation of the Republicans.....and I will come back. Till then GFL, with your plan - see you in November.
“Of COURSE they’ll vote Republican, where ELSE are they going to go?”
- Attributed to Karl Rove
I no longer consider myself a republican. I am a conservative.
Just as Reagan spoke of the Democrat party, “I didn’t leave my party, my party left me”, This pretty much sums up why I am no longer a Republican, but rather a Conservative.
I’m an Independent Conservative.
McCain was the last RINO I voted for, and he’s the last one I’ll ever vote for. (That was a technicality, too. I was voting for the conservative and got him in the deal.)
I no longer consider myself a republican. I am a conservative.

Same. I am willing to try this “take back the party” thing, but I am perfectly willing to walk away from the GOP House of Usher.
Heh. See my tagline.
ditto...been that way for a long long time, probably since Reagan
I don't understand the so-called "principled conservatives" who go "independent" making them inelligible to shape any politicial party in a positive fashion. Somehow it is more noble to disassociate and then bitch and moan when idiots like McCain get nominated.
I concur.....to vote out RINOs.
I can’t vote in the primaries if I register as an Independent. I am only registered a Republican and have stopped sending any money to the GOP>
If you are going to wait for the perfect conservative before you vote, you'll have a long wait.
I am not a Republican. They are much too far to the left for me.
I am a conservative.
I am an American, at least I know what that is.
I am a Tea Party Patriot, no BS, simple concept....smaller government, less spending, constitutional law abiding Government political planks.
Which party comes close to the above ? Then I’m there. Republicans need to embrace their Lincoln, Reagan, historical roots.
I’m gonna help that happen.
God Fearing Conservative American Republican Here.
There are two non violent political means of "taking our country back." One involves formation of a third party. That is a false opportunity because in the time required to do that, we would be living in a Soviet-Style police state. The second approach is to take back the Republican Party. This is happening. Witness Delaware! One of the big obstacles we faced here were the number of former Republican, now Independent voters who, though they wanted to, could not vote in the closed Republican Primary. Had Castle won, that would have been a big factor.
I am a Republican. It’s the RINO’s who aren’t.
I vote mostly Republican because the Republican party is considerably closer to my viewpoint than the communist (formerly DemocRAT) party. But it’s not close enough for me to call myself a Republican.
i really wasnt into politics and never voted until i saw the way palin was treated in 08.. that really struck a nerve with me. i can relate to her cause i believe in what she believes. any other politician i cant watch them, i would rather watch grass grow..
