Funny - yesterday I was having a bit of work done by my female Vietnamese dentist; she chatted a bit with me and her assistant, a Japanese woman who's taking, and struggling with, a college writing course.

The dentist then made a comment, with which the assistant agreed: "We Asians are good with numbers, but we are not creative people". Assistant agreed, saying she'd always been top of class in the math classes.

Asian culture is fanatical about education. And it venerates achievement. One of the problems of graphs like this is that they look at race not culture. There is no superior race. There are superior cultures. The ghetto is a state of mind, and until you break that state of mind you will never have permanent advancement, no matter how much money you throw at the problem. All you have to do is look at the rap stars and athletes who come out of the hood and get impossibly wealthy by the time the are 20. And they are broke again by the time they are 40. The culture does not value investment or delayed gratification. Whatever they get they expend immediately.
