Question.

Hasn’t Coons admitted in past to being a Marxist or at least have the reputation of “the bearded Marxist” in his own state?

When Castle was the assumed candidate didn’t Coons get handed the nomination as the sacrificial lamb? He is far to the left of Biden who dropped out.

So what does Hotelling’s law say about two “extreme” candidates?

If nothing else I would say we have the perfect lab test of conservative versus leftist. There are no moderates in this election that can gray the lines (unless Castle still runs).

I would say that this is exactly the battle of ideas that we’ve been begging for a fight on. If DE chooses the Marxist, so be it, but lets not continue to lie to ourselves that Castle would have fought for Conservatives.

Having control of the Senate by name is worthless if you don’t have control of it in Principle.

whitedog57: “The is something called Hotelling’s Law. Essentially, it says that if one party goes too far to one side, the other party captures the middle.”

Your point seems intelligent, but you apparently don’t know that her opponent, Coons, is an admitted Marxist. No, seriously. He’s a Marxist. So, using your argument, I’d say O’Donnell is a shoe in as the less extreme candidate, that is unless you think belief in small government and Judeo-Christian morality is now considered more extreme than Marxism.

My prediction is as this Obaminstration continues to push for more and more Marxist edicts with their every numbered day, the people of Delaware are going to take notice. O’Donnells numbers can only go up, and I’m thinking double digits.

The is something called Hotelling’s Law. Essentially, it says that if one party goes too far to one side, the other party captures the middle.

Thank you, Mr. Rove. You are exactly right. If one party goes too far to one side, the other party captures the middle. The only problem with your pet theory is that you have applied it to the WRONG side. Who are the extremists? Is it Obama and the democrats? Or is is Tea Party conservatives? If you believe the latter are extremists, then you are on the wrong site (and side). Perhaps you meant to post this on DU? COONS is the extremist. Got it? The independents are already favoring O'Donnell further destroying your theory of who the "extremist" is. Her numbers are only going to improve.

Again, how odd it is that you would accuse the GOP candidate of being the extremist while considering the democrat "mainstream", which is EXACTLY what you are implying, when it is EXACTLY the opposite.

The poll I saw earlier put her at 34%.

I’ll bet they’re tied within a week.

Try looking at the polling data instead of mindlessly clinging to dogma. Hoteling is working FOR her. She is up 8 with Indy voters. Instead of chanting dogmas look at the FACTS.

He might want to read the polling instead of mindlessly chanting the RINO dogma. She is up 8 point with Indy voters. Hoteling is working FOR her

His point is absurd nonsense. In the polls the Indys are with her by 8 points. His whole argument is counter to the facts of this vary poll.

Only 10%, in a Democrat stronghold, in a poll that’s done during the weekday when conservative voters are working. Looks pretty good to me.

Last night ODonnell said that Castle had not even called her after the election”

Castle spent 50 years in politics.

He cannot be gracious enough to call her & say anything?

Sure shows the class this RINO really has.

He is 70. Maybe he had a ‘senior moment’ & cannot remember that he shoudl be more gracious.

I'm rooting for her.

Sure doesn't look like it. Nothing like giving up just as the race has begun. But thanks for your support!

This fight is just starting. Does Delaware really want to elect a communist to go help Obamao continue the destruction of America? Do the establishment Republicans really want to lose to make the point that we need to keep supporting their unprincipled elites who facilitate Obamao’s destruction of America? ...I don’t think so. Delaware is smarter than that.

That’s okay. It’ll tighten in the next month.

Never forget the Scott Brown race and all the forecasts and poll numbers. The Conservatives came through. IMHO the pollsters have no clue what is coming their way on Nov 2.
