Odds Are Tough, but Not Hopeless, for GOP in Delaware
Wall Street Journal ^ | 16/09/10 | Neil King

Posted on 09/16/2010 5:01:04 AM PDT by sussex

Pundits, polls and Republican strategists all give conservative upstart Christine O'Donnell little chance of winning a Senate seat in liberal-leaning Delaware. But others argue it's far too early to write off the newest tea-party favorite, who stunned the political world Tuesday by toppling Republican fixture and nine-term congressman Mike Castle in the party's Delaware Senate primary.

Her best bet would be to run as the anti-establishment candidate. Everyone loves an underdog that she is the ultimate underdog. The outsider, the amature fighting the Washington DC big boys from both sides just to represent the people of Delaware and make their voices heard.

She has very little cash—just over $20,000 as of last week, compared with nearly $1 million held by the Coons campaign.

She's raised that in one day, if name recognition was any kind of problem, I doubt it is now. Most of the pundits won't acknowledge how all of the factors in this race have been turned on their head in just a matter of a few hours.

Think Castle would have had any of this energy? People are done supporting roadkill. The dem candidate is roadkill, he just doesn't know it yet.

Does this mean it would have been better to elect someone who would vote with the Dimocrats, no matter which candidate were elected? hmmmm...let's think about that. Nope, it is better to at least have a chance to elect someone who will vote conservatively when in office.

National news for the Democrats will only get worse between now and November.
The Tea Party Movement will only get stronger between now and November.
She'll win.

I don’t see the race in Delaware as much of a worry.
Are there far more dems in the state than us? Sure, lots.
Are they enthused, are they showing up to vote?—Hell no! Why would they!
Game match set.

The Wall Street Journal actually thinks that people will pay for this type of tired, stale and lame recycled conventional wisdom?

"Please donate!"

She needs to put up a physical address for donations on her website.

I will not give any politician my credit card number!

Delaware has a chance to go in the right direction if they take it. Unlike the citizens of Washington DC who have just voted to keep black kids stupid and on the Liberal Plantation.

Dittos...America may yet see an underdog be the
top dog.

Dittos...the classic underdog situation, as in, an
ordinary America accomplishing greatness by engaging
in such an endeavor.

The Republican power base will bend over backwards to make certain no conservative is elected to office. They are no different than the Democrats. The talking heads will do the same.

Even brain dead liberals/neo-Marxist can take so many
hits, before they finally learn that they have been sucker punched for all these years.

I think the gal has a pretty fair chance.
Mob psychology, thanks to the tea party, is starting to take hold. (I say that in a good sense)
Human nature makes many gravitate to ground swelling movements. Everyone wants to be a part of it.
