Tea-party win in Delaware stuns Washington

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The stunning victory Tuesday by a tea-party backed candidate in Delaware’s Republican Senate primary has roiled the Republican Party and given Democrats fresh hope that they can keep their majority in the November elections.

Little-known conservative Christine O’Donnell, 41, pulled off a major upset by defeating moderate Republican Mike Castle, by 53% to 47%, in a low-turnout primary. The result reverberated across the political landscape, rousing tea-party members, dispiriting mainstream Republicans and delighting Democrats.

Until a few weeks ago the 71-year-old Castle, the state’s lone congressman for 17 years, had been expected to romp in the primary and beat his Democratic opponent in the fall. O’Donnell got a big boost after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed her, drawing fresh attention to the campaign.

The DC elites keep saying O'Donnell can't win. But are they really saying they can't beat a nutjob candidate who wrote a paper on the making of a bearded marxist?

Dear Washington, we can do this peaceful like, or we can do it the hard way. Your choice.

I see Tim is really talking about his own party, the Democrats.

It was record turnout for a Delaware GOP primary, not a low turnout.

I am more pissed at Rove then Obama. It is Rove type Rino lickers who have ruined the party of Reagan.

I was screaming at the TV while Bush with Roves advise rolled on his belly to the MSM long before I knew who the the TelePrompter Queen was.

LOLOL!

My sentiments, exactly!

What a firestorm Tokyo Rove started, huh?

He’s still on the same message tonight, though not as animated as he was last night.

There’s one question I would like to ask him, though.

After he slimed Christine again tonight on Greta, he went on to talk about this huge wave that’s building for the Republicans. My question would be...

If there is a huge wave building, why is it that he believes Christine is unelectable?

After all...in wave elections, those who would never be thought of as “electable”...are, in fact, elected.
