Tom Tancredo may be a third-party candidate for Colorado governor, but he's no longer coming in third.
Mr. Tancredo surged ahead of GOP candidate Dan Maes in a Rasmussen Reports poll released Tuesday, capturing 25 percent of the vote to 21 percent for Mr. Maes. Both trail John Hickenlooper, a Democrat with 46 percent support in the survey of 750 likely Colorado voters.
Mr. Tancredo, a former congressman and outspoken critic of illegal immigration, received more good news Tuesday when a state judge ruled that he may remain on the November ballot as a candidate from the American Constitution Party. Two Republican voters had filed a lawsuit saying he violated state election law because he was a member of the GOP until July.
Colorado law states that third-party candidates must be registered with the party by the first business day of January in the year they plan to run. But the law also says that political parties may set their own standards for selecting candidates.
"Huge victory today," Mr. Tancredo said. "I will be on the ballot in November."

He doesn’t stand a chance against Hickenlooper
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the Republican has much of a shot, either.
Maes, another teaparty brain fart...
Tancredo is HANDING this seat to the Dems. WHY?
Come on, Colorado: hit the streets with flyers and pamphlets; make telephone calls, get active.
Hickenlooper is a demonrat, so he’s a serial felon. Get the word out on that, even if you have to pass out home-made literature on street corners.
“Tancredo is HANDING this seat to the Dems. WHY?”
You will never get what you want unless you start to vote for it at some point.
If this country is to be saved, the first thing that has to go is not the Dims but the pubby RINOs.
Govenor Chickenpooper is a scary thought.
New slogan for Tancredo.....
“A Vote for Tancredo is a Vote for Sheriff Joe”
That should give him at least 10 more points.
“...Hickenlooper is a demonrat, so hes a serial felon....”
And Denver is a sanctuary city which already has a record of released illegal felons committing murder.
If Colorado had one Republican that had a brain, they could easily demolish the looper - who sounds even dumber on the radio than he really is...and that’s DUMB.
Peter Boyles on KHOW 630 AM, regularly slices, dices, and purees Hickenlooper on his morning radio show. Boyles has already taken down the present gov and one of his sleazy appointments (cannot remember the she-crook’s name at the moment). So, Boyle is Colorado’s Rush for now.
Peter Boyles is a class act, he even discusses the legitimate points of the birther issue on his show too. I like Peter.
I lost any respect I had for Tom. He’s no better than Crist or Lisa (if she does the write in thing).
Can only agree with Boyles half the time. He is wrong as hell about unions, FDR and gays. He is right about Voorhis, looper and the Ritter cabal.
Ritters girlfriend is Stephanie Viaforte (sp?)
750 likely voters?
SEIU. ACORN. City workers? DNC volunteers. La Raza?
The reality is: If you are not voting for Tancredo....you will be voting for the liberal.
Tancredo can beat Hickenlooper if real conservatives vote for Tanc. Need to get over the Liberal RINO nonsense of “Third Party costs GOP elections”....voting for Maes is like pulling the lever for Trotsky instead of Stalin
He would if the RINO dropped out
>>Tancredo is HANDING this seat to the Dems. WHY?<<
A month ago I would have said that, ok I did say that, but after Maes shooting himself in the foot so many times Ive changed my mind. I think he had to many people snowed.
At this point I think its Maes who needs to step down or people in Colorado need to realize that Tancredo is the only guy who can possibly win. It would be a tie if Maes werent in there but I dont think Maes would get the vote if Tancredo wasnt in there.
