When will the GOP, the Republican Party, change it's name? (Vanity)

The movement has now reached critical mass and cannot be stopped. The GOP, the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, has now had it's leadership in states red and blue rejected. The leaders are really no longer leaders, they are LINO's. The rank and file members have rejected the blue-blood established crowd, the anointed crowd, and are listening to new leadership. Different leadership, the tea party leadership. I believe it will be viewed eventually as the next logical step of the Reagan revolution. The conservative undercurrent has finally fully asserted itself - conservative republicans, conservative independents, and conservative "Reagan" democrats joining together, protesting together, planning and working together to take races one-by-one, precinct-by-precinct, like a party should do and used to do, but you never see much any more - until now.

Only question is "When will they change the name?"

I don't know, I'm just giddy at the results of these latest primaries.

Apparently, your giddiness is leading you astray.

The GOP *IS* the primary electorate - that *IS* the GOP, the millions of people who vote to select its candidates.

The GOP has spoken and chosen its candidates.

Those candidates are in many cases a breath of fresh air and a change from careerist politicians - who are not and never were the ‘leadership’ of the party.

Once the Tea Party takes over the GOP, how about the “United Conservative Party?”

The game is now switching tables. The establishment (RNC, NRSC, etc) which used to pick our candidates for us and then ask for donations for support has turned to “We the People” picking our candidates and telling the establishment (RNC, NRSC, etc) to support our candidates.

As it should be...

There's no need to change names: the party is simply returning to the Reaganite principles it adopted after kicking the RINO's out the last time (1978-80). What it needs now is a leader.

I agree because the tea party would have just as readily tried to go into the Democratic party if it had been receptive to them in principle and practice. The GOP had a huge alignment with the tea party due to the large number of conservatives in the party because of Ronald Reagan (I was 17 when he was elected and am a member of the GOP because of his influence). The GOP rank-and-file welcomed this virus. But my point is the rank and file are nothing like the picture so many think of when they think of “Reepublican”. Why not seize this moment in history and change the name?

Nope, it should be the "TEA Party".

What it needs now is a leader.

I think Palin is the de-facto leader on the presidential front. Demint is a great leader, and should be the new Majority Leader. Let's just get that straight right now. Bachman should be the next Speaker, imho.

“I think Palin is the de-facto leader on the presidential front. Demint is a great leader, and should be the new Majority Leader. Let’s just get that straight right now. Bachman should be the next Speaker, imho.”

EXACTLY! Just what I’ve been thinking!

President Sarah Palin
Senate Majority Leader Jim DeMint
House Speaker Michele Bachmann

Not a bad idea actually. The Lincoln years are a bit distant.

The trouble is that Reagan was not strong enough, or mean enough, to purge the party of the country club elite, so he got in bed with the Bush family, who proceeded to undo the entire Reagan revolution. Failing to utterlyn purge socialists from the political process is a deadly mistake, as we can see from developments in Russia, China, and Cuba.

Maybe rather than changing the name they will just start living up to it and become the party of a Republican form of government.
