I just finished watching Karl Rove trashing GOP Senate primary winner Christine O’Donnell. It was on Sean Hannity’s FNC show. Might as well have been Olbermann on MSNBC. The establishment Beltway strategist couldn’t even bother with an obligatory word of congratulations for O’Donnell. He criticized her “character” and “rectitude” and claimed she hadn’t answered questions about her financial woes. She did so here. Rove mocked her security concerns as “nutty.” Yet, her concerns have been more than justified. See here (second video clip).

Rove came across as an effete sore loser instead of the supposedly brilliant and grounded GOP strategist that he’s supposed to be. Expect more Washington Republicans to start sounding like Tea Party-bashing libs as their entrenched incumbent friends go down. (Hot Air has the Rove/Hannity video.)

Two things at work here...

1. Establishment Republican leadership has established that they either do not understand or are not serious about addressing the underlying dynamics that have caused the current US problems and
2. there are new "King Makers" in the Republican Party and the old guard isn't the least bit happy about it.

In one night... Rove went from “magnificent bastard” to just “bastard”.

No visible means of support? Most of the Washington elite like Rove have no visible means of support unless pontificating is their definition of it. I’ll take a true conservative with a few bumps on her resume over a limp wristed Republican any day.

I wrote Mr Rove on his web sit and he was considerate enough to respond personally and I thank him for that. From bottom to top below is the transcript:

Mr Rove
Thank you for your considered response. Being a veteran and having served two tours in Viet Nam I think some of my dues are paid up.

I am sure if fitness and character were the only question the current president would not occupy the office and most of congress would be empty. To me it is the matter of the greater sin. To have some personal baggage is the lesser sin when contrasted to the statist left in both parties betraying the constitution and the people of this great country.

Mike Castle was a traitor to the principles of limited government and free markets, something you pretend to support.

As to having tax problems, the current tax system is one of the greatest tools of government oppression there is and it doesn’t seem to disqualify one from being the Secretary of the Treasury.

Being retired, I dont have $50M dollars but I do support conservative candidates wherever I find them.

I do believe you are a strong and faithful Republican, however I do not accept your assertion that you are a conservative. Just my opinion.

Having said that I do enjoy your visits to Fox News

God bless you and thank you for your service to this country and to President Bush.

Regards

If we attack President Obama for putting people who can’t pay their taxes into his Administration, how can we defend a Republican candidate who doesn’t pay her taxes, her college bills, or her mortgage; has had no visible means of support; and sued a reputable conservative organization claiming she was the victim of sex discrimination? She didn’t win the lawsuit: her employer said she was fired for trying to run her own pr consulting firm out of their offices while on their clock.

We conservatives want conservative candidates, but we do our cause little good by nominating people with serious questions about their fitness and character.

Mr Rove, for the guy that brought us the greatest expansion of government under a republican since Nixon, attempted amnesty for lawbreaking aliens, and a completely flawed Iraq war strategy and defense you have a lot of chutzpa badmouthing the now republican senate candidate for Delaware.
Your wing of the republican party would lie down with the devil and be just fine with that as long as he was “our devil”. Pathetic. If I wanted liberals ruling the country I would vote for the democrats whom are at least more honest about themselves than the liberal RINOS.

If your going to work against the conservatives then at least have the grace to change parties.

Email from DeMint——

Last night, conservative Christine O’Donnell won the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Delaware. This is a major upset and I wanted to thank each of you who stepped up to help her in the final days of this campaign.

As you know, Christine believes deeply in balanced budgets, constitutional limits, and individual liberty. These are the principles of freedom that are the backbone of our great country, and we desperately need to restore them by electing new leaders to the Senate like Christine.

We have won a great victory in Delaware but the fight has just begun.

You see, the establishment in Washington is so upset by Christine’s victory, they are throwing one of the biggest political temper tantrums we’ve seen in a very long time.

Everywhere you turn, some know-it-all Beltway insider is throwing in the towel, saying they won’t do anything to help Christine defeat the Democrat in November. These phony Republicans apparently prefer to elect a liberal Democrat to fill the seat over a principled conservative.

Click Here to Support Christine O’Donnell

In fact, media reports indicate that national Republicans have decided not to invest money to help Christine win in November. They believe that because she is conservative, she cannot win the general election. This is not true. Americans living in Delaware love their country and they’re not stupid. They know our nation is teetering on bankruptcy and economic disaster. Now they have a clear choice between a Democrat who will continue the the failed Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda and Christine O’Donnell who will help us save our country.

This is very disappointing but it’s not all that surprising. The establishment said Pat Toomey was too conservative when we backed him over Arlen Specter. They were wrong. Toomey now leads in the polls. They said the same thing about Marco Rubio, Ken Buck, Rand Paul, Sharron Angle, and Joe Miller. Yet they were wrong about them too. They are all positioned for victory in November.

If there is one thing we have learned this year, it’s that we cannot count on the leadership in Washington to elect the kind of leaders our nation needs. We’re going to have to engage the process and do it ourselves.

Sounds like this came directly from Rove, TexasMIA.
Can you share his email address?
I want to tell him that the book he signed for me is “in the mail” and he can regift it to some other RINO he knows.

We are not kooks or fringe thinkers.

Ya gotta realize - to establishment Republicans, the notion that a candidate is actually SERIOUS about shrinking the size and power of the federal government is kook, fringe thinking. They want the power back not to reign in the federal government, but to regain control of it for their own ends such as going back to getting 60 percent of the earmarks.

Establishment republicans are no better than democrats.
They both like the power sharing system they have going with each other.

Each group takes their turn at the pig trough, porking out, enriching their pals, and porking taxpayers. They bicker between themselves but are happy to take their share of the loot while pretending they want to change the system (wink, wink).

But republicans absolutely go into a rage-boy level rage when they are challenged from anyone not part of their BIG GOVERNMENT IN-CROWD.

They don’t want any newbies who would actually try to change the system and cut them off from the good life they live at our expense.

Congrats to O'Donnell; but we cannot have two Repub Parties as we move along here and that/this. ..scares me.

(That said, was disappointed in O'Donnell's speech last night; she sounded like she had just won 'homecoming queen' over and taking jabs at the loser. She needs to 'grow' her speech making, IMHO. She needs to win; because if she does not; then we are the losers.

Was shocked at Repub response. This was a big bus, they threw her under as 'winning candidate'. They could have at least pretended to support her; and surely they could 'let up' some of their resources and do just that. Bottom line: SEND MONEY. . .)

Thanks Texas MIA.
Here’s my comments to Rove:

Dear Karl,
I join a number of fellow Conservatives this morning in sharing our outrage at your immature and inappropriate comments aimed at Christine O’Donnell last night. I worked very hard for her and I don’t even live in Delaware.
You talk about her baggage, and who doesn’t have some...but you are totally missing the real issue. And that is the Power of the Tea Party and more specifically, the Power of the People.
I have been a longtime GOP activist, have devoted my adult life to helping Republicans get elected to office. I am now officially a former member of the RNC and like Sean Hannity, I consider myself to be a Conservative only. I will continue to contribute and give my time and energy to candidates who support the principles of the Constitution as fight for our freedoms and our liberties, which are under assault.
I am a member of an organization in Steamboat Springs which just hosted you at our Freedom Conference. You were supposed to stay at my ranch but your people cancelled that at the last minute, where I had gone to considerable effort to reserve a private cabin for you. We were very pleased to have you there..and you signed a copy of your book for me.
I have decided to return it to you. If you want to cross off my name and regift it to a RINO, feel free.
Extremely disappointed in you,
Mary in Colorado

She certainly is not a polished career politician. Probably one reason why she won so handily last night.

Like Harry “S” Truman(my favorite dem) said...

I collect quotes of famous Democrats that illustrate their compassion & love of their fellow man. Currently my favorite is from Harry Truman:

"I think one man is just as good as another so long as he's not a n*gger or a Chinaman. Uncle Will says that the Lord made a White man from dust, a n*gger from mud, then He threw up what was left and it came down a Chinaman. He does hate Chinese and Japs. So do I. It is race prejudice, I guess. But I am strongly of the opinion Negroes ought to be in Africa, Yellow men in Asia and White men in Europe and America." -- Democrat President Harry Truman

I know most people do not watch Morning Joe, but I was switching channels and Pat Buchanan said something interesting. Sarah Palin should call the NRSC and tell them if they don’t back O’Donnell she will not raise another dime for them. Interesting

Michael Steele:
You have insulted us for the last time. You publicly announce your lack of support for a candidate because your hand picked guy didn’t win?

Whose side are you on, really? Many of us feel you and the party have been playing an insider game far too long and enough is enough!

So long you as you are head of the RNC I will not take your calls or even open your letters.

The Republican voter has changed and you and your friends or the cabal of country club Republicans are dinosaurs.

Giving money and support to Crist, Specter, Scuzzyfavor, Chaffee, Snow, Collins? Unacceptable!

Have fun. That little light in the corner of your eye is your career dissipation light.

Have a nice day!

Slugs

Democrat President Harry Truman

That's an accurate quote, but Truman did not become president until 34 years after he wrote it.
