Karl Rove on Hannity: There Are 'A Lot Of Nutty Things' O'Donnell's Been Saying (VIDEO)
Talking Points Memo ^ | 09/15/2010 | Jilian Rayfield

Posted on 09/15/2010 6:19:13 AM PDT by Brices Crossroads

Karl Rove and Sean Hannity duked it out tonight over Christine O'Donnell's win in the Republican Senate primary in Delaware, with Rove, surprisingly, calling some of O'Donnell's remarks "nutty" and conceding that "this is not a race we're going to be able to win."

"This was about Mike Castle's bad votes," Rove said tonight on Fox News. "It does conservatives little good to support candidates who, at the end of the day, while they may be conservative in their public statements, do not evince the characteristics of rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity and character that the voters are looking for."

Rove pointed out that there have been a lot of questions about O'Donnell's finances, and some of her allegations against Castle. Hannity fired back that he interviewed her about all of those things.

"Did you ask her about the people who were following her home to her headquarters?" Rove asked, adding: "There are just a lot of nutty things she's been saying."

"We were looking at eight to nine seats in the Senate," he continued. "Now we're looking at seven to eight, in my opinion. This is not a race we're going to be able to win."

Note to the GOP, Rove, Cornyn, etc.:

When your “annointed candidate” does not win, don’t ready the circular firing squad.

And I agree that Rove was wrongly intemperate on Hannity last night. That episode will give support to the MSM argument of dissention and ideological purity within the conservative movement. On another issue, I thought Castle the better of two bad choices as the notion of party discipline within Congress is something a member ignores at their own peril.

Has O’Donnell ever snorted “cocaine” like a certain former president Rove worked for? We forgave and voted for his Guy.

Rove should bash Reid who now wants to sneak amnesty into a defense bill. Instead, he bashes the winner of a GOP primary. What a devious guy.

I haven't noticed any of that from the Republicans.

party discipline within Congress is something a member ignores at their own peril.

How has Olympia Snow been hurt by her continuous acts of treason?

The good old boys in the RNC dynasty/establishment can’t handle being beat out by a “girl / skirt candidate.

“I want the truth!”

“You can’t handle the truth!”

Rove was trying to be PC when it was PC that got them in this mess to begin with by trying to appease the libtards.

I’ve never seen anything like it, totally immature and childish, plus it showed that the voters are not important to them except when money and votes are needed.

“I have been trying to do this with people here who tie themselves in pretzels trying to excuse Bush’s progressive policies in order to maintain their love for him.”

You will probably find that most prevalent in people like myself that live in Texas, because we remember him as governor. During that time we had a concealed carry law, twice vetoed by our idiot previous governor, signed by Bush. We had a cold blooded murder (Carla Fay Tucker sp?) that had scammed the world with her “conversion” that Bush stood his ground on and sent to pay for her crime. And many, many other examples.

I believe Governor Bush was a lot closer to “Ranch George.” Unfortunately, Washington has a way of twisting people to its shape. Reagan was one of my favorite presidents, but a long list can be made of things that were screwed-up during his term of office (how many other people got screwed in 1986 when the ITC was repealed in the fall, RETROACTIVELY to the first of the year?).

As well she may be a flawed candidate but look at the alternative:

More years of a democrat who will vote for more of the same Obama policies that are ruining the country.

That should be in an ad.

I probably should have conditioned that with something like “if a new batch of Republicans can instill party discipline like the Democratic Party.” Snowe is bad, but I had rather see her in there than a liberal Democrat. Unfortunately, not living in Maine or Delaware, I can only observe and report.

..Should be interesting listening to Rush and Hannity today..

Yep, and we will also find out whether the “new” leadership of the conservative movement will speak out about this too. Who will stand up and be counted?

You guys are loyal. I like that about you.

The one issue I liked from candidate Bush was tort reform. Once elected he never whole heartadly went for it. Another thing is was disappointed about

Rove’s comments are defensible and entirely on target. Republicans faced two bad choices in the Delaware primary and just because Rove supported the lesser of two evils does not make him wrong or a RINO.

A comment which is a bastion of decency, fairmindedness and common sense amidst the swarm of pitchforks and torches.

Yes. Castle was effectively a democrat. We really have to question whether the Republicans will have a disciplined, conservative structure if they take the house. This Rove business is but the tip of a very ugly iceberg.

The one issue I liked from candidate Bush was tort reform.

The funny thing was that Workman's Comp was like the lottery for lawyers, and Bush signed the legislation that largely put a stop to it. He also put a lot of people in place that made changes to civil lawsuit abuse.

Like I said, Washington seems to twist and constrain people, especially if they are conservatives.

I don’t doubt Karl’s decency or fairmindedness (and I certainly appreciate that tenor in Yetidog), despite the email exchange I had with him last night. I do doubt his perception of what we face and the mechanisms needed to confront the incipient tyranny of Obama’s thugs.

Castle would have never constituted a true combatant and at best would have only been political cannon fodder. The military metaphors are deliberate. This is a fight to the finish and I fear that our republic could be finished with an array of Castles in congress.

Shalom
