In this supposedly enlightened, modern world of ours, many people take a perverse pride in mocking those symbols and beliefs that other people hold dear. Judaism and Christianity are among the most popular targets of todays iconoclasts, embodied in the stupidity of Andres Serranos Piss Christ through the deadly serious Zionist conspiracy theories that permeate the highest levels of the United Nations. Yet, somehow Jews and Christians endure these slings and arrows, remaining confident and secure in their faith in spite of the insults. At the other end of the spectrum, we have one major religion in the world so terribly insecure about itself that it cannot bear the slightest provocation, no matter how obscure or tenuous the source is. Rather than holding that religion Islam accountable for maintaining a skin so thin that it encroaches upon the freedoms it supposedly hold so dear, the Left continues to enable a hyper-sensitive Muslim worldview. According to the Left, Muslims are a particularly aggrieved part of the victim class and thus the regular rules of public discourse do not apply when they express their grievances. History tells us that leftists arent doing anyone any good, not Muslims and certainly not the civilized world, by according Islam this special status.
The firestorm of controversy that surrounded the ultimately unrealized plans of an obscure Florida pastor to burn a few copies of the Quran was truly remarkable, without any analog in the modern world. If Terry Jones had announced an intention to put any other book in the world to the torch, no one would have taken any notice, much less threatened to set off a firestorm of righteous indignation. The fact that this one book, and only this book, could provoke such a ludicrously disproportionate reaction ought to tell us much more about the people who believe in that book than it does about the people who question its authenticity and authority. Bible burnings, for example, are not uncommon. Last year an equally obscure preacher in North Carolina announced his intention to burn copies of the Christian Holy Book on Halloween. The United States has officially confiscated and burned Bibles in Afghanistan. Such incidents didnt result in Christians storming the streets, howling in outrage or threatening violence. Such plans were instead met with a shrug, because the faithful were confident enough to say that such misguided actions ultimately dont matter.
Yet, the very idea that one man could possibly desecrate the Quran was enough to get the State Department, the commanding General in Afghanistan and the President of the United States involved. The mainstream media jumped on the bandwagon as well, warning the populace of all the terrible things that were sure to happen if Jones went through with his plans. The irony is that Islamic inspired violence is a given, whether a preacher with bad facial hair actually burns copies of the Quran or not. No matter, for in the mainstream medias eyes the damage has already been done. Islamic violence is always our fault according to the Left and this latest non-incident has become further proof that it is right. Islam doesnt need reform, the Left assures us, our attitude towards the religion is the real problem.
As an example, consider the ongoing sectarian clash in the Kashmir region of India. Hindus and Muslims have been escalating levels of violence in the disputed Himalayan region for three months now, with Muslims pushing for autonomy and Hindus looking to protect Indian sovereignty. Yet, according to a story published in the New York Times on Monday, Terry Jones is ultimately to blame for exasperating the bloodshed. [S]tate authorities sought to differentiate the new violence as separate from the other protests, linking it to the reports of the desecrated Koran. Indian authorities had fretted over the planned Sept. 11 burning of a Koran by a Florida pastor, Terry Jones, the Times Jim Yardley wrote.
The Quran burning didnt happen. Not that it should matter. Members of any other religion in the world would dismiss plans to burn their holy book as the unimportant, deluded ravings of an obscure individual who represents nothing more than himself. Muslims and their leftist allies, on the other hand, have managed to elevate Terry Jones into something he never was and never should have been: a global figure who wields immense power. The fact that something like this could occur is not a tribute to Jones message and charisma, its rather proof of just how powerfully Islamic insecurities influence the West, and particularly the Left.
Of the thirty recognized on-going global conflicts raging today, twenty-eight of them involve Islam in some shape or form. That was the case before Terry Jones got his fifteen minutes of fame and will continue to be so long after Jones disappears into the footnotes of history. Islam continues to be its own worst enemy and the Left, particularly the mainstream media, cant seem to stop enabling this most insecure of the worlds religions.

It is perhaps a blessing because if further demonstrates (as if that is really needed) the absolute inability of liberals to gain an ability to think.
They have been and will remain one note flutes. (And nasty flutes they are....)
How people can understand islam and still follow it is beyond me. The cult has no redeeming value to humanity, only brute force to control.
Islam is a creation of satan. Period.

Hit that nail squarly on the head.
Our concept of civilization as a free society of individuals who pursue their own goals while leaving others alone to pursue theirs is not universally accepted as a virtue or a blessing or an ideal.
I well remember the early multiculturalist movement of the late 1970s and early 80s. One of their basic tenets was that America and the West really have no culture to protect; that ours is a homogenized, synthetic culture concocted by giant corporations for their own convenience. This is nonsense, dangerous, frightening nonsense, the product of ignorance and stupidity.
Ours is a freedom culture, based on principles developed over thousands of years of struggle on a framework built by the God of Abraham those to whom He communicated his wishes. The rest, the materialistic wealth and comfort that have flowed from that culture, are not the culture itself.
These ideals are absolutely not universal. They are an inconvenience to many and an abomination to many more. Among those to whom they are an inconvenience are those mis-leaders who long to hold humanity by the throat.
I'm grateful to the several FReepers who have remembered this quotation from Daniel Webster: "There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
This is, unfortunately, human nature as well, as much as is the universal longing for freedom that our Founders answered with history's greatest human achievement in civil order: our country, America.
Those people are in a state of perpetual anger, because:
from birth they are made miserable by physical, mental and emotional abuse.
the resultant anger is directed skillfully at Christians and Jews
they are kept ignorant of modern learning, and forced to memorize a handbook of hate
their inability to produce anything useful leads to their miserable living conditions
the resultant anger is directed skillfully at Christians and Jews
I fear that our elected officials in the future will continue the alliance with Islam out of fear and will continue to protect Islamic domination in America.
My future outlook is that if and where I can I wage my private war against Islam, I will never talk tactics other than when I dig a post hole somewhere and have a pigs head on a fence pole with a Koran in its mouth, my victory symbol.
Islam is not a religion. It is a political system inspired by the devil.
Islamic rage and hatred of liberty is also personified by those young Muslimahs in full niqab with only their burning eyes showing, holding up signs saying,
“FREEDOM GO TO H**L!”
BTW, someone or something is indeed going to h**l, but it won’t be freedom and liberty.
“Nuke Mecca Now!”

The only time a Christian would be offended by the burning of a bible was when they cost tens of thousands of dollars in gold to produce by hand copying. The printing press and low cost paper changed all that. Back then hen the rage would be because of the cost.
Today we know the bible is ink on paper. It is what that printing does to the reader that is important.
Remember your history. Tyndale’s first translation of the scriptures into English was bought up and burned. He simply printed more bibles to be bought and burned as this brought in enough cash to print a better second edition.
To quote a verse in Judges concerning Gideon...
“If Baal is a true god let him come down and plead for himself, because one has cast down his alter”.
If the mmohammedan’s allah is a true god let him come down and plead for himself because one has burned his koran.
