It was an amazing bit of television. Almost instant(ly) followed by an amazing bit of scoop.
*snip*
The normally rational and analytical Mr. Rove had vanished. In his place was someone who looked like Karl Rove, sounded like Karl Rove but spoke like the last guy out of the hoped-for-victory-party of the landslide losing candidate for Register of Deeds in NoPlaceville, Texas.
What on earth was Rove thinking? He was bitter, angry, cutting, demeaning, mean-spirited
and those were the nice things he had to say about O'Donnell.

Will be really interesting today to see how Rush analyzes Rove’s comments last night. You know he will ... Fun stuff!
I always liked Rove myself, but as someone else has already said here, he jumped the shark last nite. Screw him. Screw Karl Rove, even if Karl Rove is posting here on FR under an obscure screen name.
Screw him in the nose, forever.
Many thanks for the realtime report.
Maybe the idea that every incumbent Republican at every level of government now has to be afraid of a conservative base and vote accordingly should be factored into the political equation. It’s not all about numbers with an (R) next to their name.
Rove has been pro-Castle for months. He was truly angry because he could finally discern that the tea party was not about to go away, and that fact is a certain indication of the demise of the old Republican Party and its once all-powerful bulls like Rove himself.
Having just watched Rove/Hannity on the DVR, I don’t know that Rove is very smart.
He was an angry, bitter, jealous, condescending asshole. I have lost all respect for him. He’d better be falling over himself with a mea culpa today or his reputation is toast in the conservative movement.
I sure as hell won’t be buying his books or tuning into any of his media appearances in the future.
Heh, you know what - you very well might be right. :)
Rove’s vitriol against Christine was inexcusable. He should be fired from Fox News for his outburst and his attempt at coercing an election. He’s now proven that his opinion is obviously jaded and therefore irrelevant.
The pompous sanctimonious selfrightousists won’t see anything beyond their own narrow tunnel vision view. Truth doesn’t matter.
What I saw and heard was a professional political consultant speaking. While I didn't notice anger I clearly saw classic political strategy in the content of what he said. YMMV
You’ve got to be kidding—because the GOP operative attacks her that helps the Dems? It’s the Dems dream to have the GOP beat up their own, so they don’t risk being tarred with having gone too negative.
I agree however that it’s good that the GOP Establishment, including RINO operatives, fully out themselves before 2012—so they won’t be able to steer the party to yet another RINO (Romney?) presidential candidate in 2012. That they’ve gone after O’Donnell as they have will make their attacks on Palin less credible. They’re the RINOs who have cried wolf enough for the electorate to be on to them.
Wow!! I thought he could barely contain his anger...he was RUDE.....Hannity was taken back at his rudeness and HATE for O’Donnell.....he excoriated her!!! STUPID IDIOT.
Quite a night! This news of the ‘big boys’ coming out dissing O’Donnell and announcing they will not support her in the general during her friggin victory speech was just about the most self defeating act that I’ve ever seen come out of our party. Like someone said early on..’Never underestimate the republican’s ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory’.Very sad.
My suggestion is to send the NRSC and the RNC some email blasts this morning giving them one more chance to get on board the conservative train. If they don’t turn around real soon, then we have no choice but to stay true to our values and cut them lose. This is a dangerous game they are playing and the dems are salivating over it. Interesting that the NRSC was calling around last week trying to get donations(I made a pledge that I will probably have to take back now because of last night). Last night I was steaming mad at them...this morning I am just sad. They just don’t get it! This isn’t about THEM anymore...it is about SAVING OUR BELOVED COUNTRY!!
Here’s what to do next time the RNC, NRSC calls to get donations. Simply reply:
“In lieu of a contribution to the RNC, NRSC, a donation in your name has been sent to: Christine O’Donnell Election Committee, Free Republic, RTLife Committee, 2nd Amendment Committee, etc.”
My impression of what Rove said was that she failed to adequately suck up to him. But that’s just me.
Karl Rove ran a great three election strategy : 2002,2002 and 2004 and then following them with two complete disasters in 2006 and 2008. But by the 2008 election he had a nice cushy job at FNC (with Bill Kristol ) predicting Republicans doom which he helped plant the seeds of.
I just hope Christine O'Donnell can run a good aggressive campaign. I am still waiting for Sharon Angle to fight back against harry Reids attacks.
I must be too sick with this stupid cold to think straight because I don’t get this thread at all.
I watched the interview on Hannity and I didn’t see a spiteful, spitting, emotional Rove. I saw an interesting conversation between two fellows who were generally in agreement. Castle had a crappy voting record and was for Cap and Trade. (agree)
Rove brought up some problematic issues with O’Donnell and that was all. If there’s any truth to the statement that she slandered Castle by spreading the rumor that he had a homosexual affair without having any evidence, then she *is* a wildcard candidate and may be problematic. With so much of America in financial trouble lately, I think that she can get out of the financial issues by explaining herself in a way that the average Joe can relate to. He brought up that she had “character problems”, but didn’t get deeply into it. It sounded to me like he’s a little disturbed by her past statements. Hardly a firestorm.
I don’t see the “bitter, angry, cutting, demeaning, mean-spirited” Rove that everyone is talking about. He and Sean were civil. If anything, Rove simply looked tired, but then most everyone did at the end of such a busy election day. At the beginning of the interview he said that he didn’t understand O’Donnell’s victory, then he said that it was probably because of Castle’s voting record.

What am I missing?
You're welcome.
And it's not a stretch to say that thanks to Rove, Ohaha is now siting in the White House (wonder if he'd like to take credit for that 'win' too!).
And I never considered him a 'genius' either (even before I knew of all the dirt). The NRA, Charlton Heston's Anti Gore Sampaign, and gun owners in general got Dubya elected in 2000. And in 2004 it was the 'Swifties' who torpedoed Kerry (pun intended).
Rove just got lucky. Right place, right time.
