Businessman Matt Doheny's GOP primary victory Tuesday night sets Republicans up for a case of déjà vu in upstate New York's 23rd district.
Doheny led accountant Doug Hoffman 53 percent to 47 percent when the race was called with just over 93 percent reporting.
But Hoffman holds the Conservative Party line and has promised to campaign through November. That would create the same scenario that helped Rep. Bill Owens (D) win last year's special election against Hoffman and Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava.

Hoffman knocked scuzzy out, maybe he can get rid of Doheny.
I agree. He’s not a Scuzzobama so we oughta back him and urge Hoffman to leave the race.
He’s not as liberal as that creature.
I didn’t hear about him backing Owens?
will he now come out with a statement saying that he voted for Hoffman and not for Owens? If he does, will people call him “liar”? By backing a big Dede supporter, the county chairmen have made it tough to unite the party.
It is obvious, that if he gets elected in Nov., he will be doing it without active support from Hoffman’s core group.
