Report: National Republican Senatorial Committee Wont Fund Christine ODonnell (Updated)
by Colby Hall | 10:35 pm, September 14th, 2010
Earlier tonight Christine ODonnell was declared the winner of the Republican Senate primary in Delaware over heavy favorite Mike Castle. Since ODonnell was viewed as the Tea Party candidate endorsed by Sarah Palin, with little chance of winning in the general election in November, this race had shaped up as a the GOP establishment versus the Tea Party Republicans. In fact, just last night Charles Krauthammer called a vote for ODonnell as irresponsible. Well according to a recent report, it turns out that the establishment in this case the NRSC wont be funding ODonnells campaign.
Who is going to hire a lobbyist who is out of the loop and has an out of date Rolodesk?
. . .
ROFL! I hope you’re right and that’s great imagery. Generation Rolodesk vs. Generation iPhone.
Nice to see the Republican Main Street Partnership being pecked away at. Lots of our “problem children” there. Bummer about McCain but it cost him $20 million to hold on. And I see where 65% want to boot Snowe now. Wonder how many rats will be jumping that ship:

Well not just the Rolodesk itself, but also whose phone numbers is in it.
Trent Lott isn’t going to have the numbers of the new Tea Party Senators, nor the deep reserve of favors to call in from years of political horse trading.
So what good is someone like him on K Street when Capitol Hill is being run by these new Tea Partiers?
The Establishment is protecting the Establishment because they fill each others’ gravy trains. It’s not about principles to them, it’s about business.
They’re going to choose business as usual over changing the way Washington works. Because with one, they know where their next paycheck is coming from. The other is uncertain, at best.
I wouldn’t put it past these petulant punks to help the Left during the lame duck session.
I second that...I am willing to throw out the hairpiece in Austin as well. I can stomach Bill White for a few years if it means kicking out these elitist Republicans. They are no better than the Dem’s...they all have to go...one way or the other.
They are supposed to be working for us, not the other way around!
If I were to send money to the NRSC (won’t happen, just a hypothetical), I wonder what percentage of that money would actually make it to a candidate (any candidate)?
In other words, how much does the NRSC take for their own salaries, travel, parties, prostitutes, whatever?
Blame John Cornhole.
He needs to be replaced with Jim DeMint.
He's rational enought to know he's witnessing the destruction of the Republican Party he helped to establish......one that was devoid of conservatives.
STARWISE POSTED: Seeing Karl Rove diss Christine on Sean Hannity ticked me off so much, I went to Christines website and sent her $25.00. She is exactly what we need to send to Washington to represent the peoples interest.
GO CHRISTINE--GO CHRISTINE--GO CHRISTINE--GO CHRISTINE--GO CHRISTINE--GO CHRISTINE
DONATE http://www.christine2010.com/
Luke: “I can’t believe it!”
Yoda: “THAT is why you fail!”
We have already been donating straight to the candidates bypassing the RNC all together. If they want things to stay that way forever just keep up the BS and see what happens.!!!
An as for Rove these guys have been sued to flying first class on the Republican 747 for years. Now they will have to ride coach and beg for peanuts. Maybe Rove and a few others will get it maybe they won't.We march on with or without them. Anyone that thinks that Christine can't win in Nov. better put the crack pipe down and check out the stats for last nights race.
See which party is turning out for their candidates and which one isn't. This race is so fluid it can change ona dime and its is and all the mo is going our way.
So the Roves/Bill Krystols, Michael Mudveds etc. can get on the tea party bus and ride in the back or get run over.
Here’s the problem in DE, there are 621,000 registered voters in the state, almost half (292,000) are Democrats. There are almost 183,000 Republicans and an additional 146,000 Independents.
In order to win, you’re going to have to hope most Democrats stay home and get 20-30% in crossover votes from the remaining Dems. You’re going to have to win the bulk of the Independents AND hold onto your Republican base.
It’s a tall order for any candidate with an R attached to his or her name, especially one who just came out of a bitter and divisive primary. I can begin to see why Rasmussen has her down by double-digits.
Hopefully, O’Donnell can become a phenomenon that peaks come Election Day. But that Tea Party tidal wave is going to have to be pretty darn big to sweep her into office.
I think that you are missing the point. It’s wise to spend money strategically. What the NRSC did was yank even moral support form O’Donnell - and all of us that are fed up with the status quo. Not to mention that they gave O’Donnell’s Dem opponent a huge talking point for the campaign.
The NRSC’s decision here seems to follow a pattern - noticed and commented on by other posters - of disconnect from the rank and file.
OK, then WE won’t fund THEM!
I understand that the timing of the announcement (via leaked sources *coughs* Rove) sucked. Tactically, the NRSC shouldn't spend on this race... YET....
But think about the impact of their announcement. It has FR and the Tea Party in a tizzy. I bet O'Donnell is not hurting from the money bomb she gets today. Let's leave it at that.
