Businesswoman Michele Rollins (R) was supposed to coast to the Republican House nomination after clinching the backing of delegates at the state party's convention.

But this cycle, the establishment's endorsement has marked political careers for death and Delaware has been no exception.

Developer Glen Urquhart (R) remained in the primary race after Rollins got the May endorsement and his tenacity came close to being rewarded with victory on Tuesday.

Only 552 votes separated Urquhart and Rollins, a former Miss USA-turned government attorney, with all 325 precincts reporting. A spokesman for Rollins said the campaign is considering its options, which may include calling for a recount.

You know the rules. If it says ANYWHERE in the text “former Miss USA” you HAVE to post pictures.

With all precincts reporting, Sussex County developer Urquhart led by 552 votes. He had 27,341, or 49 percent, to 26,789 votes, or 48 percent, for Rollins.

The winner will face former Democratic lieutenant governor John Carney in November.

lol!!!!

People should be careful what they ask for.

I’m sure she would have been “not guilty” back in ‘61. Not so much today.

If someone has 552 votes more than the other guy, that is not a ‘dead heat’, the one with 552 wins!

A recount is possible. The margin is less than 1%.

The “court” around seated Miss USA is Colorado, Missouri, Miss USA, California and District of Columbia.

Interesting and illustrious. It doesn’t look like she’ll win this contest, though there are still some absentee and provisional ballots to count.

Michele Rollins just conceded defeat. Glen Urquhart will be the nominee.
