I believe the most ironic problem of shutting it down last time (under clinton) was that the gov employees took the feds to court to get backpay and they did!

The answer is to pass a SMALLER spending bill every time he vetoes one, and then say “What? You didn’t like that bill? OK, we’ll spend even less then.”
If the Republicans take back the house and make huge gains in the Senate, the tea partiers work has not ended. Rather it has just begun. We will have to work extra hard to support our candidates in efforts such as this. It’s going to be tough.

I think Rep’s could make serious hay out of this. “We will temporarily see Gov’t shut down before we allow zero and company to recklessly spend anymore of your money” or “Better to shut down big government than let it shut down small business through overspending”
