Rush Limbaugh today stated on his radio show that Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE) voted in favor of House Resolution 1258 on June 11, 2008.
What was "On Motion to Refer: H RES 1258 The Kucinich Privilege Resolution"?
Answer: "Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors"
24 Republicans voted with the Democrat majority and that did include Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE).

I could maybe buy the argument that every damn body else on this thread is wrong except Olddeckhand. But you add Rush Limbaugh and seriously guy...
I;m jes' sayin'. ...
Correct.
First, leaders aren't clairvoyant. They don't know how the opposition is going to vote until they vote, and these votes can stay open for hours, so they'll find a certain number of Republican to vote a certain to insure failure or passage, if they can. Of course, if you understood how the legislative process worked, I wouldn't have to explain that, but you probably wouldn't have made the comment in the first place
Second, do you remember Bush being impeached? Do you remember any hearings about Bush's impeachment?
Since the answer is NO to both questions, I'm not sure how you can say it was a wrong choice. Kucinich was shut down. It's not complicated.
Just me? What about Paul Mirgenroff, Scott Johnson and John Hinderaker - three plainly conservative attorneys who do understand how the parliamentary tricks of the US Congress work. Limbaugh is a great entertainer, but he's not an attorney, nor is he familiar with parliamentary procedure, apparently.
LOL, that’s politics.
WTF does that have to do with “Mike Castle voted to impeach Bush”?
Well, at least I don't think a conservative principle is that women have to be subordinate to men in the workplace.
No, Mike Castle Didnt Vote to Impeach Bush
I wonder how many Delaware Republicans will vote today having been told that Mike Castle voted to impeach President George W. Bush.Ive heard that at least twice this morning. The usual suspects are circulating it, apparently caring not a whit that they have completely misstated what each side was voting for. Either they didnt think to check, or they didnt care.
From coverage of the vote at the time: All 166 votes in favor of opening up a House impeachment debate came from Republicans, apparently eager to bring up the vote immediately and paint Democrats as political creatures in a time of serious issues.
House Republicans sought to bring the impeachment resolution to the floor to embarrass Democrats; Castle thought this was a waste of time. Castle voted to refer it to committee to kill it.
More: By a 251-166 vote, the House sent the 35-count articles of impeachment to the Judiciary Committee, which is expected to let it die without further action. While the vote technically forces the measure to the committee for consideration, it also means the full House will avoid having to debate and vote on impeaching the 43d president.
Look, guys, Castles a really liberal Republican. He supports cap-and-trade. You would think his 52 career ACU rating ought to be enough to dissuade folks. But since this campaign, weve seen ODonnell backers say Castle voted for Obamacare (he didnt) the stimulus (he didnt) and now, the impeachment of Bush (he didnt).
Love ODonnell or hate her, you cant just make stuff up to hit the other guy.
Castle was making an anti-Bush symbolic vote.
The committee death spin is a complete lie on the part of castle.
I hope he loses BIG today and lives a long long time watching politics from the outside.
No, he’s saying that it was a procedural vote, for which nobody posting here has ANY idea what the leadership advised to the individual members.
What we DO know is that the vote was considered a failure for the impeachment crowd, until the left decided to spin it as a GOOD thing that the bill was being dumped into a committee where it would die.
But you’d have to go back and read the actual news stories of the time to see exactly what the maneuvering was, and how many votes were swung back and forth.
It is for example quite possible that this bill was put out for a vote on the floor of the house. The Republicans found they had enough democrats to dump it into committee.
Pelosi found this out as well, and realised it would be a disaster for her base they had a majority vote against impeachment.
So she told her caucus to vote FOR the move to committee, and they’d spin it as a vote FOR the impeachment. Then, the republican leadership told all it’s members to vote no except the 24 they needed to help push it to the committee.
If Pelosi had switched votes, the republicans would have done so again.
The falseness of this allegation is seen by how it was originally categorized as “Castle voted for Bush Impeachment”.
Because what he voted FOR was to move the bill to committee. A move to a committee is NOT a vote on the bill. Saying that a vote to move a bill to the committee is the same as a vote on the bill is a false, misleading attack.
Which is OK, people don’t always know the truth — but watching people DEFEND the lie is always painful. At least most people have come around to just pushing the equally false claim that Castle voted to move it to committee because he SUPPORTED IT, when contemporaneous reporting shows that he opposed it, and further knew of no valid reasons for impeachment.
As I’ve said before, there are certainly enough things Castle actually did to criticise, without making up stuff. At least the attacks on O’Donnell involve actual things she said.
Yes, and note that while Reid did so, the rest of his caucus did not, again for political purposes known only to the caucus.
Frank Wolf (R-10, VA) also voted for the procedure; he didn’t support impeachment by any stretch of the imagination.
Except that Castle did and he also voted against President Bush’s Surge in Iraq.
His vote against his Republican colleagues is recorded for posterity.
If it was merely a prodecural vote, then why did Castle vote with the Democrats rather than his own party?
Face it, Castle is a RINO who was anti-Bush and anti-Surge and voted with Democrats against the interests of his own party.
The vote record is there.
From the actual Impeach Bush Site the full response to the question :
Q: How did our Reps vote and what does it mean?
A: Kucinich moved that HRes 1258 be referred to the Judiciary Committee. All of the Democrats and 24 Republicans voted "Aye" (yes). A yes vote could mean that the Representative supported the resolution and wanted to see it developed further in the Judiciary. Or it could mean they wanted to send it to committee for a slow death. Both Pelosi and Wexler voted aye. A no vote on the motion to refer would have resulted in a final vote on the Articles of Impeachment, which would likely have failed. 166 Republicans voted "No".
Careful calling others stupid, it can always come back and bite you in the butt. Castle can claim anything he wants, but he didn't vote to kill the bill and no day late doubletalk will change that.
Spin it however you like, you’re not going to convince me that voting with the leftists like Rangel and Waters and the rest of their ilk against 90% of his Republican colleagues is somehow a plus in his conservative credentials.
Now we just have to reply on folks to read the votes properly. This was was on a motion to refer...not on the impeachment itself.
reply=rely
A no vote on the motion to refer would have resulted in a final vote on the Articles of Impeachment, which would likely have failed.
