Continuing his makeover from Republican to independent U.S. Senate candidate, Gov. Charlie Crist on Monday affirmed his support for civil unions, adoption by same-sex couples, and doing away with the military's ban on openly gay soldiers.

Crist's Democratic opponent for Senate, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, called it ``too little too late.''

Crist has been increasingly tilting leftward as he seeks to siphon Democratic votes from Meek and pitch himself as the only true foil to the conservative Rubio.

In the first formal position paper released by the campaign, Crist laid out his position on nine issues relating to gay rights, including his support for a federal ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation and for allowing gay citizens to sponsor their partners for legal immigrant status.

Did someone let him know that polygamy and bigamy are illegal, or did he divorce his beard already, now that she’s of no use to him anymore?

It is pretty difficult to tell the two of them apart.

This is why it's important to try to figure out what politicians really believe rather than what they profess at a point in time.

For example, Crist is now adopting all of Mitt Romney's old positions.

Crist needs to go on a retreat to meditate and find out who he is, and then stick to it.

If Crist and Meeks are fighting for the liberal vote, isn't that handing the election to Rubio?

Shouldn't Crist's spin be that he is the "voice of reason" between a fiscally irresponsible Democrat and a "too conservative for Floridians" Republican?

Could FL still be as blue as Crist's actions imply?

Charlie should move to Virginia where an advertising campaign is starting to lure more homosexuals there.

she’s of no use to him anymore?

Ah...but she has money. Lots of money to pay for campaign expenses. He would never dump her before Nov. 2.

Crist is counting on a group of his stalwart supporters from days gone by, and new support from the liberal crowd. He is the self-proclaimed populist, saying whatever will haul in the most votes.

Both Crist and Romney scare me cause they Both would sell their grandmas if it would get them votes.
Neither have any true beliefs of their own just which way is the wind blowing today.

How about being outed as a sleazy slimeball who is showing himself to be everything that is wrong about those who aspire to be members of the Ruling Elite - utterly no principles except “Me, me, me.”

At least Meek has been a stand up candidate, especially for a liberal. He is definitely the better opponent for Rubio. Best election outcome—Crist a distant third.
