Win One For The Gipper, Delaware
9/14/10 | Self

Posted on 09/14/2010 1:10:13 AM PDT by Nextrush

When he lost the GOP nomination to the "moderate" Gerald Ford in 1976 by a razor thin margin of arm twisted delegates, Ronald Reagan tried to comfort his supporters.

Reagan invoked a little humor in the process noting that the political process is like "the world with its pants down."

Fast forward to 2010 and the battle between the RINO Mike Castle and the outsider Christine O'Donnell.

O'Donnell has gotten the anal exam and more from the RINO's in this campaign.

But after the emotions of the smear wear off, what are we left with.

If Mr. Reagan were with us today his heart would be broken at the 13.5 trillion dollar debt this nation owes to China, Arab nations and others.

Business as usual politicians of both parties like Mike Castle have only known the language of spending and debt with the "major" difference between political parties being the rate of spending speed and the size of the debt.

Castle gets a F from the NRA and is clearly anti-life. That's a long way from Ronald Reagan. And let me tell you as a Pennsylvanian, its a long way from some Democrats in my state like the late Jack Murtha who had a better record than Castle on those matters.

The inside the beltway American Conservative Union gave Castle a 28 percent rating with John McCain at 52 percent.

That says a lot, too.

This country needs to move in a different direction, towards that "shining city on a hill."

The Republican insiders have chosen to go the dirty route, turning Christine O'Donnell into Lady Godiva.

The question for you folks in Delaware today is will you be tempted into becoming Peeping Toms or will you rise up to a higher standard.

I hope you will rise up and support Christine today and in doing so "win one for the Gipper."

In less than 17 hours, we should know. Lord willing.

NPR has done a number of praise pieces on Castle, noting what a popular, likeable moderate he is - how “in touch” with voters “on the far right and on the far left...”

When they come in the big guns are in... For them to risk their ‘impartial’ sound for a race in DE means something.

That says a lot, too.

That this article misleads its readers on the ACU scores says a lot too. But it’s consistent. I’ve noticed the O’Donnell partisans routinely lie by omission and cherry-picking information.

Lifetime ACU score 52, and 56 in 2009. Hardly a Goldwater, but not an Obama either. And McCain’s ACU average was low 80s.

btw since you insist on bring the Gipper into this, Reagan understood you took as much as you could actually get at the time, and come back another day for the rest. You don’t get to be a spectacularly successful president by being a self-deluded fool.

I respectfully disagree with you. You aren’t going to get back respect and trust from people with someone like Castle. This is not the year for being grateful for the scraps the media says you better eat because it may be your last meal.

Here’s a better understanding of the ACU scores.
Castle is more liberal than Collins and more conservative than Snowe over the last 6 years.

http://www.conservative.org/congress-ratings/

snowe collins castle
2009 48 48 56
2008 12 20 28
2007 28 36 20
2006 36 48 52
2005 32 32 28
2004 60 68 52

Actually it's close. When you do a sum total and then average of the total you find that Snow's rating is 36 and Castle's is 39.

You forgot to mention Cap’n’Trade. This is the signature issue of the world communist movement (masquerading as “environmentalists”). Commie Mike Castle supports Cap’n’Trade.

The shockwaves of a Tea Party win will be throughout the ‘establishment’. I think the RINO Republicans are worried that a lot of their old time insider government employees will be given the Bum’s Rush along with the Crats.

Yeah, and Collins is a little bit higher. I didn’t want to do the actual math. Just knowing that he’s right between Snowe and Collins should give everyone a very clear idea where he is.

Ronald Reagan was good, but the GOP grassroots were still not conservative in the 1980’s. In my county, they were tax and spend, pro-choice hacks.

His supporting cast of Republicans had to be worked with like Senator Lowell Weicker of Connectictut and in his first term, the one and only Arlen Specter.

When the GOP started winning the South in the 1960’s it was presidential, senate, governor. It took decades to trickle down to congressional seats and state legislature.

What’s coming on us now is the trickle down of conservatism from Ronald Reagan into the grassroots of the party.

Now we have the chance to really change things.

It only means THEY know what the poll numbers are. LOL
