A series of expensive contracts approved by the federal government following the gulf oil spill were brought to light by the Associated Press. But are those contracts cause for concern?........

Sorry, mods. Title should read “Government spending following oil spill being questioned”
I kinda understand no-bid contracts at that time. After all, if they had gone through a normal bidding process, we at Free Republic would have been bitching even more about the ever-longer delays in action. It was slow enough as it was.
Nothing fishy there whatsoever.
Now, it WOULD be fishy, if say it was a $50,000 no-bid contract was awarded to Free Republic for studying how and why swat teams initially flocked to the oil spill.
This is just a way to use the BP money which the administration forced them to pay, for political purposes. It is nothing more than a democrat political slush fund.
1. Group endorses and campaigns for Obama.
2. Group makes anti-Palin video - costs maybe $200,000
3. Group gets over $200,000 of BP money from government.
4. Group is not a scientific organization, but rather a bunch of leftist ecological community organizers.
A study of seabirds has nothing to do with cleaning up the oil spill. It is not an emergency. I’m sure a University in the Louisiana area is well equipped to do such a study. This group is capable of finding a dead bird, taking a picture, and making political posters and videos from it.
