Anti-AARP group set for launch ( Repeal ObamaCare )
POLITICO ^ | 9/13/10 | SARAH KLIFF |

Social Security Institute President Larry Hunter, a longtime Republican adviser, will launch the for-profit Alliance for Retirement Prosperity on Wednesday, representing a $5 million conservative challenge to the AARP.

Where the nonpartisan, nonprofit AARP has sided with the Obama administration on many issues — most recently and most prominently, ardently supporting the health care reform law — the alliance will actively lobby for the law's repeal.

Among its top-ticket agenda items: "Repeal ObamaCare, prevent the rationing of health care and reform Medicare and Medicaid."

Other conservative groups, such as the 60 Plus Association and the American Seniors Association, have also billed themselves as alternatives to the AARP but have failed to challenge the group in size or influence.

Please keep an eye on this and keep us informed as to its progress. I dropped my AARP membership about 10 years ago, when I could no longer stomach their pimping for the ‘RATS, clear back in Clinton days!

I hope they succeed. We certainly need something that will compete with AARP and offer the services that AARP offers plus. So many people are sick of them but don't want to lose the benefits.

I toss AARP stuff on a regular basis and just tonight was thinking it would be wonderful if there was a conservative option.

The problem is that most people join the AARP for all the discounts, etc. that they can get by being members. Until another organization can match that, I doubt it will draw many folks. We certainly won’t have anything to do with the AARP. I don’t care what kind of benefits they offer.

Good, I have never joined AARP and never will, they should be ashamed of themselves for selling seniors out.

Well with ObamaCare in full swing, people won’t get old (off to the glue/Soylent Green factory), so AARP will cease to exist.

The only agency I hate worse than AARP is the department of education. Seriously. I send AARP’s solicitation envelopes back to them stuffed with heavy stuff, so they’ll have to pay big postage charges.

AARP are prostitutes. They sell their virtue cheap; truth be told, they have no virtue left.

“Non-partisan” AARP?? From Nobamacare.com:

“Why would AARP, the nation’s largest group, supposedly working for the elderly, support an ObamaCare bill? Here is what Dick Morris, former advisor to President Clinton, said: “The interest groups that usually speak up for the elderly, particularly AARP, are in Obama’s pocket, hoping to profit from his program by becoming one of its vendors. Just as they backed Bush’s prescription drug plan because they anticipated profiting from it, so they are now helping Obama gut the medical care of their constituents.”

Like the National Education Association, AARP has been taken over by liberals. With millions of members, AARP is using its clout to push ObamaCare on the elderly, even if it includes euthanasia. AARP supported homosexual marriage by opposing Prop 8 in California.

They aren’t smart enough to know that any little savings they might realize from AARP disappears from their savings ten times over from Democrat spending that the AARP supports????

They are already running ads against Roy Herron (D) here in TN US District 8, which is an open seat. Steve Fincher is the GOP primary winner for District 8. Herron is a state senator running for US Rep, this is retiring US Rep John Tanner’s district. LARGE Military voting block from Millington, TN and most of the rest of the district is rural.

Must be, because I doubt that all the current members of the AARP are libs. There are a lot of others who ignore the group’s political activities and pretend that the AARP is only about discounts and freebies. I don’t get it, either.
