True. We have [organic] butter almost every day. No margarine. And apples (that aren't organic) I've read have tons of chemicals on them (whether or not that's true I don't know). But Michelle Obama doesn't strike me as someone that knows all that much about nutrition. I'd rather listen to someone like Jack LaLane, still going strong at 95 years old.

I'd pull off the "It's-a-'Wonder'-you're-alive-bread" too!

A child's order of french fries contains approximately 100 calories.
A child's order of carrots with ranch dressing contains approximately 100 calories.
A child's order of apples with caramel dipping sauce contains approximately 100 calories.
In pretty much any restaurant in the world, you can request less butter, cream or salt in your dish, or you can order items which contain less butter cream or salt than the restaurant's other items.

Quite remarkable that the AP chose such an unflattering photo of MO to publish with the story.

I agree with MO on one thing....most kids menus are terrible, that’s why when my son was little, we would order him a salad or meal off the regular menu. Our child, our choice. Waitresses would always look at him like he had two heads when he was 3 or 4 and would order a salad with ranch dressing.

It's probably the sexiest they could find.

I really wish these fascists would mind their own business.
That's it in a nutshell! There's nothing wrong with trying to eat better, but it's not their business to push this on anyone.

My husband and I are label readers. No partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils, no MSG, and no HFCF. We also try to avoid excess soy (wow is that difficult). We buy simple ingredients and prepare them to our taste. Because of this we are able to buy more expensive items. One pound of fresh salmon costs less than one Domino’s pizza. We usually don’t eat at restaurants that don’t post their menu’s nutritional content. However, it is our choice to eat this way. Nobody should tell me how I should eat. This all goes back to socialized medicine. Will gubmint medicine treat fatties? Will their heart by-passes be covered? What about knee replacements and sleep apnea masks?

My youngest neph used to scarf salad. He loved it. But because it was what he wanted, not because he was forced. Then he got older and went for steak and potatoes.

If she wants to cut down on people eating in restaurants, she should have them all post her picture.

I'd say, when you slim that fat ass down to size, THEN come and talk to me about "healthy foods". I serve what sells, I'm in this to make a living, not further your touchy-feely-I-want-to-be-relevant campaign.

Restaurant menus are one of the top concerns of the American voter right now.

Next up for the kenyan...nationalize all restaurants. Certainly the goal is to put them out of business. What restaurant can do well with so many restrictions? No trans fats, no salt, no smoking, no butter, forced carrot consumption. Why bother going?

*laughing* That's great!! We promoted healthy foods as well, and after 25 years, only one of our four eats junk (although no pop/gum which is good!), two eat okay, and the fourth eats no junk whatsoever. I still do, however, *sigh* and it's a daily battle. Maybe MO can help me pick out my lunch ... :)

Don’t snack between meals. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Exercise every day. Do this and everything else will take care of itself.

Why does Ms. Obama get the right to tell anyone what to eat. She was not elected to anything, and by the looks of her she has had her share of Cold Coon and Collard Greens. Buzz off.
