Imam says resolution to NYC mosque debate in works
Associated Press/Yahoo News ^ | Sept. 13, 2010 | JENNIFER PELTZ

NEW YORK – The imam leading the effort to build an Islamic center and mosque near the World Trade Center site said Monday that a resolution to the raging debate over its location is being examined.

"We are exploring all options as we speak right now, and we are working to what will be a solution, God willing, that will resolve this crisis, defuse it and not create any unforeseen or untoward circumstances that we do not want to see happen," Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said during a question-and-answer session following a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations.

He did not elaborate on whether the options included moving the center from a site two blocks from ground zero.

But in response to a later question, Rauf said the proposed location, while controversial, was important.

"We need a platform where the voice of moderate Muslims can be amplified. ... This is an opportunity that we must capitalize on so the voice of moderate Muslims will have a megaphone," he said.

The imam said he wanted to clarify a "misperception" that the Islamic center's proposed site was sacred ground.

The Imam is up to something and so is Obama. Follow the money

According to the new WH FOX News correspondent, Oboma very much wants this mosque to be built.
No doubt we tax slaves...er....infidels will end up paying for it.

I saw Trump being interviewed this morning and he said he doubts the mosque will ever be built and the controversy will get worse before it gets better.

The muslims might threaten to harm us.
Oh wait. They already did that (hundreds of times for hundreds of reasons).

It kind of sounded like it didn’t it.

It boggles the mind. It would be a bit like having some really fringe German nationals organization right next to a concentration camp museum. I am trying to think of an analogy.. of things that people do not do because its inappropriate.

What if the Americans tried to put Dollywood, Disneyworld liquor world, and a giant casino right next to a giant mosque in a foreign country.

Ah then it would be different.

You're wrong on this - many Muslims take what good they can from such a horrible religion and try to ignore the rest. It's the faith of their fathers. Not that easy to walk away from...

We have to stand up to the radicals and beat them back... you're right on that part. But to lump all Muslims together is a hatred their radicals would love - it would force everyday Muslims to stand with the nuts. We're walking a fine line here... in a battle we must win.

What does he mean, “God willing?”

His god is “Allah.”

And what’s this nonsense about moderate muslims having a megaphone? From his GZM?

I think NOT!

It is one of his talking points the Imam has been repeating. How arrogant of him to declare what is sacred to people. This building had wreckage from one of the planes. Seems that is why they are inflexible on moving from this location.

A halfway house for pedophiles next to an elementary school? That may reach the level of egregiousness you sought.

FROM POLITICO.com:Question Obama SHOULD have been asked at his last presser.

"1. You’ve defended the constitutional right of Muslims to build a mosque two blocks from ground zero in New York, even though its deeply offensive to some 9/11 families. The Rev. Terry Jones in Florida has suggested he too has a constitutional right to burn the Quran to send a message, yet you’ve implored him not to – because it will anger and offend some Muslims. Do you worry some Americans might question why you don’t call for the same restraint on the part of the mosque developers?

You are absolutely right. I do not think he will ever build it. He bought the building to convert into Condo’s and the market puked. He still owes a couple of hundred grand in taxes. He is just a towel headed huxter.

There was a local (NY?) Fox article that tied Imam to terrorists funding?

I can’t find it.

But if Obama was raised as a Muslim and converted to Christianity as he says, shouldn’t the Muslim “holy man” regard Obama as an infidel rather than as a supporter?

Every called the Florida pastor a nut and someone seeking publicity. Same exact is true of this Imam.

He has credibility from the media who cover up his skeletons.

Why the double standard?

They are trying to raise $100,000,000 to build this and can’t even pay the $250,000 in back taxes that they already owe.
