Yesterday an acquaintance of mine decided it was an appropriate time for him to start pushing his braindead “inside job” theories of what actually happened on September 11, 2001. I shut him down right away — and encourage NRB’s readers to be equipped to do the same
It seems like a good time to revisit my “Crackpot Chronicles: Van Jones, Glenn Beck, Ron Paul, Rorschach, the Truthers, And Me” series.
I’ve highlighted the 10 arguments.

Coming up in multiple discussions of late has been the subject of “Conspiracy Theory.” Former Green Jobs Czar Van Jones was primarily pushed out of his post because he signed a statement sympathetic to those who preach that the government was somehow involved in orchestrating 9/11.
More recently in the debate over Glenn Beck, the talk show star’s opponents (both on the left and the wimpy right) have tried to suggest that the problem with the media sensation is that he’s a “conspiracy theorist” or that he cavorts with those who harbor such sympathies.
And who could forget the waves of “Birthers” who show up to bug us with their inanities every time one of our bloggers dismissively mentions their pet conspiracy?
But what are we actually talking about here? What is conspiracy thinking? And what about conspiracy thinking makes it a dangerous logical fallacy that American Patriots should reject? To answer this question, I present an email dialogue I stumbled into with a 9/11 Truther who started emailing me after NewsReal Blog‘s Chris Yogerst delivered a full-throated rebuttal to this particular variety of conspiracist nonsense.

Well, after that bit about Birthers, I’m not inclined to read any further. Pretty stupid.
Why are their Birthers? Because Obama has NEVER, NEVER, NEVER provided any evidence of where he was born. What evidence do we have that he was born in Hawaii? None. Zero. Zilch. Nothing but a poorly forged COLB posted on the net. And most of his other records have been hidden or shredded as well. So, what is the obvious assumption? Something is wrong here.
Well, what about the Truther? Sorry, but in this case there is plenty of evidence. 19 dead terrorists. Two airplanes flown into the Trade Towers. Two burning holes, airplane shaped, in the towers, which I saw with my own eyes. Engineering testimony that half way through construction, they stopped using asbestos coating on the steel girders, because of the asbestos lawsuit panic.
I’ve got two crashed airliners to show them. And another pair of crashed planes in DC and Pennsylvania. What have they got? Not even a birth certificate.
Don’t forget lack of action on Clinton’s part, to recognize and go after terrorists...and as well, complete communication breakdown between governmental departments.
Or...maybe it’s a conspiracy and the government really was behind 9/11? I’m inclined to believe actually, that although they may not have done it themselves, they sure didn’t do what they could, to stop it.
Just because the drive by media comes down against a request that doesn't make the request invalid.
I’m at the point where I don’t even care about the BC.

Who still argues with “truthers”? They were summarily discredited by Popular Mechanics quite some time ago. Once the debate is over, do we really need arguments for ending the debate?

It takes a person of a child’s mind to use such 3rd grade level terms as “tuthers” or “birthers”.
